Bud George
Camille "Bud" George (December 23, 1927 – September 1, 2017) was an American politician. Biography Born in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1927, George graduated from Houtzdale High School in 1944, and then served in the United States Navy during World War II. After serving as mayor of Houtzdale, George was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he represented his constituents from 1974 until 2012. He was a Democratic Party (United States), Democrat. In a 2002 PoliticsPA feature story designating politicians with Yearbook, yearbook superlatives, he was named the "Toughest to Work For." Death George died in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania on September 1, 2017. Clearfield County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 80,562. The county seat is Clearfield, and the largest city is DuBois. The county was created in 1804 and later organized in 1822. Clearfield County comprises the DuBois, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the State College-DuBois, PA Combined Statistical Area. History Clearfield County was formed by the Act of Assembly by the second Governor of Pennsylvania at the time, Thomas McKean on March 26, 1804. The county was created from parts of the already created counties of Huntingdon and Lycoming. The name for the county was most likely derived from the many cleared fields of the valleys surrounding Clearfield Creek and West Branch of the Susquehanna River, formed by the bison herds and also by old corn fields of prior Native Americans tribes. The Wilkes University Election Statistics Project is a free online resource documenting Pennsylvania political election results dating back to 1796. Currently, the database documents Pennsylvania's county-level vote totals for President, Governor, United States Senator, and Congressional elections back to 1796. The database also contains directories for members of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly and the Pennsylvania General Assembly, dating back to 1682. According to the database's designer, Wilkes University Professor Harold E. Cox, "No other state has anything like it." The project's impetus began in 1996, when Cox inquired about 19th century election statistics, only to find that the data would cost $1,000.
