Aussie Millions
The Australian Poker Championship, commonly known as Aussie Millions, is a series of poker tournaments held at the Crown Casino, in Melbourne, Australia. The Main Event of the series is the Southern Hemisphere's richest poker tournament with a prize pool in excess of 7 million. History Poker at Crown was introduced in June 1997, with the first major championship held shortly after in July 1998. The Main Event was a $1,000 buy in Limit Holdem tournament that attracted 74 entries with a $74,000 prize pool. The Crown Australian Poker Championship, or the 'Aussie Millions' as it became known, moved to January in 2001, attracting 40 entrants with a $5,000 buy in for a prize pool of $200,000. January 2003 saw the event go international, attracting a field of 122 entrants and a $1,200,000 prize pool. Texas Hold 'em
Texas hold 'em (also known as Texas holdem, hold 'em, and holdem) is one of the most popular variants of the card game of poker. Two cards, known as hole cards, are dealt face down to each player, and then five Community card poker, community cards are dealt face up in three stages. The stages consist of a series of three cards ("the flop"), later an additional single card ("the turn" or "fourth street"), and a final card ("the river" or "fifth street"). Each player seeks the best List of poker hands, five card poker hand from any combination of the seven cards; the five community cards and their two hole cards. Players have Betting in poker, betting options to check, call, raise, or fold. Rounds of betting take place before the flop is dealt and after each subsequent deal. Daniel Shak
Daniel Shak (born May 7, 1959) is an American semi-professional poker player and hedge fund manager known for his accomplishments in high buy-in poker events. Poker career Prior to poker, Shak was a trader on the New York Mercantile and Commodities Exchange (COMEX). In 2002, Shak established SHK Asset Management, a hedge fund focused on gold futures. He began seriously focusing on poker in 2004. In 2005, he had his first World Series of Poker cash totaling $45,000. He has been active on the circuit since and came close to winning his first WSOP bracelet in 2010 when he came in second to Chris Bell at the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better event. Ram Vaswani
Ram "Crazy Horse" Vaswani (born 1 September 1970 from Finchley, Greater London) is an former professional poker and snooker player and the youngest member of The Hendon Mob, a group of professional poker players. He resides in Finchley with his wife Jackie and daughter Hollie. Vaswani became a regular on the poker circuit, and due to his involvement in Late Night Poker, he also became one of the pioneers of poker on television. He is the first (and to date only) person to reach 4 European Poker Tour (EPT) final tables. Harry Demetriou
Charidimos (Harry) Demetriou (born 20 August 1958 in London) is a Greek Cypriot-British poker player. World Series of Poker Demetriou first became known in poker circles for his 3rd-place finish at the $2,000 no limit Texas hold 'em tournament at the 2002 World Series of Poker (WSOP) won by Layne Flack. Demetriou took home $80,200 for his finish. He finished in 18th place in the 2004 WSOP Main Event, where he became annoyed with the belligerent attitude of Josh Arieh. Peter Costa (born 27 January 1956, in Cyprus) to Greek Cypriot parents is a British professional poker player based in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is most well known as the winner of the sixth series of the popular ''Late Night Poker'' television series during his time living in the United Kingdom, where he defeated Austria's Jin Cai Lin in the final heads-up encounter to take the £60,000 first prize. Lee Nelson, M.D. (born January 19, 1943) is a retired New Zealand doctor and now a professional poker player. He was born in the United States. Poker In 2004, Nelson won the St. Maarten's event in December of that year. Because he wore a Hawaiian shirt to the final table, it became his signature outfit when he reaches the final table. Nelson is a regular on the Australasian poker tournament circuit, having won two events at the 2005 Crown Australian Poker Championship. Ken Eastwood
Kenneth Humphrey Eastwood (born 23 November 1935) is a former Australian cricketer who played one Test in 1971. A left-handed opening batsman, Ken Eastwood played first-class cricket for Victoria from 1959–60 to 1971–72. In 1969–70, when Victoria won the Sheffield Shield, he was their leading batsman, with 584 runs at an average of 41.71. In the 1970-71 Sheffield Shield, he scored 737 runs at an average of 122.83, with three centuries and a top score of 221. Sam Trickett (born 2 July 1986 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, England) is an English professional poker player. He is best known for finishing second, losing heads-up to Antonio Esfandiari in the Big One for One Drop - winning over $10 million in prize money. He is currently the twelfth-highest earner in tournament play of all time.
