Auskick is a program designed to teach the basic skills of Australian football to children aged between 5 and 12. Auskick is a non-contact variant of the sport. It began in Australia and is now a nationwide non-selective program. It has increased participation and diversity in the sport amongst children, and is now being run in many countries across the world. Variations of Australian rules football are games or activities based on or similar to the game of Australian rules football, in which the player uses common Australian rules football skills. They range in player numbers from 2 (in the case of kick-to-kick) up to the minimum 38 required for a full Australian rules football. Some are essentially identical to Australian rules football, with only minor rule changes, while others are more distant and arguably not simple variations but distinct games. Ray Allsop
Raymond Arthur Allsopp (20 December 1933 – 20 October 2021) was an Australian rules football player who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1955 to 1959. Allsopp played as a rover and was known for reading the ball well off packs. Allsopp represented Victoria in 1957. The 1957 season was Allsopp's best in his VFL career—he kicked a career-high 35 goals and polled six Brownlow Medal votes. He finished his career having played 54 games and having kicked 69 goals. He went on to become the first full-time administrator in the VFL and was charged with developing Vickick, a junior football program, now known as Auskick. The 1980 VFL season was the 84th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The AFL National Championships is an annual Australian national underage representative Australian rules football tournament. Since taking over as national governing body in 1995, the AFL has gradually restructured the competition into a primary junior pathway for its fully professional national club competition. The National Championships grew out of the Teal Cup which began in 1953 as a junior representative competition between the Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales.
