Aurora Straus
Aurora Straus is a -year-old professional racecar driver in the USA, a student, and a musician. She currently competes in the IMSA Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge, and previously raced in the Battery Tender Mazda MX-5 Cup. She lives in Cold Spring, NY, and is currently (Feb 2019) attending Harvard University for her undergraduate degree. She, when 19 years of age, was the only professional teenage female sportscar racer in North America. Personal life Straus is the daughter of Molly McCoy and Ari Straus, the chief executive officer of the Monticello Motor Club. She graduated from Hackley School's Class of 2017 and will soon attend Harvard's Class of 2022 as a double major in English literature and mechanical engineering. Straus took a gap year to work at ZappRx, a digital health company that focuses on management of specialty medications. The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) is a North American sports car racing sanctioning body based in Daytona Beach, Florida under the jurisdiction of the ACCUS arm of the FIA. It was started by John Bishop, a former executive director of SCCA (Sports Car Club of America), and his wife Peggy in 1969 with help from Bill France Sr. of NASCAR. Beginning in 2014, IMSA is the sanctioning body of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the premier series resulting from the merger of Grand-Am Road Racing and the American Le Mans Series. The Michelin Pilot Challenge is a grand touring and touring car racing series run by the International Motor Sports Association. Originating from the Canadian Motorola Cup, the series was taken over by Grand-Am in 2001 to become the Grand-Am Cup following the demise of rival IMSA's Firehawk series of similar rules in the US. KONI became series sponsor for the start of the 2007 season when the series became known as the KONI Challenge Series, before renaming once more prior to the start of the 2009 season as the KONI Sports Car Challenge. The Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BF Goodrich is a single-make motor racing championship sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) in the United States. Mazda MX-5 Cup is the professional Spec Miata series of Mazda Motorsports, promoted by Andersen Promotions. The pro Spec Miata series has its roots in 2003, but a unified national championship was launched in 2006. Stevan Gordon McAleer (born 28 August 1984) is a British racing driver who competes for Team Korthoff Motorsports in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Career Early Career McAleer was introduced to motorsports at the age of 10, visiting a karting track in his hometown of Glasgow with friends. At age 11, he was gifted a go-kart by his father, before beginning to race karts competitively the following year. However, a move to car racing was postponed due to a lack of funding. After winning the Scottish Karting Championship four times, he moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue additional racing opportunities.
