Auriac, Aude
Auriac () is a commune in the Aude department in the Occitanie region of southern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Auriacois'' or ''Auriacoises''. Geography The commune is located in the Corbières Massif some 35 km south-east of Limoux and 15 km east of Arques. Access to the commune is by the D212 road which branches from the D613 west of Mouthoumet and goes south through the commune by a tortuous route then continues south to join the D10 north-east of Soulatgé. Apart from the village there are the hamlets of Savugnan in the south-west and La Grave north of the village. The whole of the commune is rugged and heavily forested. Many streams rise all over the commune and flow northwards to join the Orbieu which flows through the commune from south-west to north to eventually join the Aude near Raissac-d'Aude. The Aude (; ; Latin ''Atax'' ) is a river of southern France that is long. Its source is in the Pyrenees mountains then runs to Carcassonne and finally reaches the Mediterranean Sea near Narbonne. The river is navigable by raft or canoe for nearly all of its length. It is registered as essential to the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The river gave its name to the Aude '' department''. The cope (known in Latin as ''pluviale'' 'rain coat' or ''cappa'' 'cape') is a liturgical vestment, more precisely a long mantle or cloak, open in front and fastened at the breast with a band or clasp. Albières (; oc, Albièras) is a commune in the Aude department in the Occitanie region of southern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Albiérois'' or ''Albiéroises'' Geography ''Albières'' is a remote commune high in the mountains some 40 km south by south-east of Carcassonne and 40 km west by south west of Port-la-Nouvelle in a direct line. The road distance is substantially more. The D129 road running north-west from ''Pont d'Orbieau'' forms the north-eastern border of the commune but to enter the commune the D613 road branches off this road heading south-west to the village of Albières. The D613 continues west through the commune to Arques and is the only access route to the commune. There is quite an extensive network of small mountain roads in the commune. Fourtou
Fourtou (; oc, Forton) is a commune in the Aude department in southern France. Geography The commune is located in the Corbières Massif. The village lies in the middle of the commune, on the left bank of the Moulin brook, a tributary of the Orbieu, which has its source in the northern part of the commune. The church in the village has been renovated and is well maintained. Its bell comes from the 12 century church located below the village in a hamlet near the "Chemin des Héritiers" within the compound of the old cemetery. This older church has been recently renovated.
