Norwegian National Road 9 (, ) is often called the ''Setesdal Road'' () and it is the main thoroughfare through the Setesdalen valley. It runs from the city of Kristiansand in the southern coast of Norway, through the Torridal and Setesdal valleys in Agder county to Haukeligrend in Telemark county in the north where it meets the European route E134 highway. Torridal Church
Torridal Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Kristiansand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Aukland, just south of the village of Mosby and just north of the village of Strai, on the west shore of the river Otra. It is the church for the Torridal parish which is part of the Kristiansand domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white church was built out of expanded clay aggregate in a rectangular design in 1978 using plans drawn up by the architect Alv Erikstad. The church seats about 215 people. The altarpiece is a tapestry by Else Marie Jakobsen from 1988. It represents the risen Christ. The church organ with 14 voices was created by H. Brink Hansen orgelfabrikk in 2002. The church bell was created by Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry in 2006 and has the inscription which means "The Lord is here calling for you". Otra
The Otra is the largest river in the Sørlandet region of Norway. It begins in Setesdalsheiene mountains at the lake Breidvatnet in Bykle municipality in Agder county, just south of the border with Vinje municipality in Telemark county. The river then flows south through Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Evje og Hornnes, Iveland, Vennesla, and Kristiansand municipalities. The river empties into the Skagerrak in the center of the city of Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway. The Otra is long, making it Norway's eighth-longest river. There are many large lakes along the river including: Åraksfjorden, Byglandsfjorden, Hartevatnet, and Kilefjorden. Torridal is a V-shaped valley in Agder county, Norway. The valley passes through portions of the municipalities of Kristiansand and Vennesla in an area that was historically a part of the former Oddernes (municipality), Oddernes municipality. Today it includes areas north of the city center of Kristiansand (town), Kristiansand on both riverbanks of the river Otra. The local name Torridalselva (meaning ''Torridal river'') is commonly used for the river's lower course from Mosby, Norway, Mosby to the sea.
