The Supreme Court of Nigeria (SCN) is the highest court in Nigeria, and is located in the Central District, Abuja, in what is known as the Three Arms Zone, so called due to the proximity of the offices of the Presidential Complex, the National Assembly, and the Supreme Court. Overview In 1963, the Federal Republic of Nigeria was proclaimed and Nnamdi Azikiwe became its first President. Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo, , ( ; yo, Olúṣẹ́gun Ọbásanjọ́ ; born 5 March 1937) is a Nigerian political and military leader who served as Nigeria's head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as its president from 1999 to 2007. Chief Osuolale Abimbola Richard Akinjide, SAN (4 November 1930 – 21 April 2020) was a Yoruba Nigerian lawyer and politician. He served as the minister of education in the First Republic and the minister of justice in the Second Republic. Biography Born in Ibadan in 1930, Chief Akinjide belonged to a family with links to the Nigerian chieftaincy system: his maternal grandfather was Chief Oderinlo, a Balogun of the Ibadan kingdom. He attended Oduduwa College in Ile-Ife as a young boy, and subsequently passed out in Grade One (Distinction, Aggregate 6). Akinjide travelled to the UK in 1951 for his higher education and was called to the English Bar in 1955. He later returned to Nigeria. He established his practice of Akinjide & Co soon thereafter.
