Augustine Ngom Jua
Augustine Ngom Jua (24 November 1924 – 30 December 1977) was the prime minister of the state of West Cameroon (formerly British Cameroons) in the Federal Republic of Cameroon from 13 May 1965 to 11 January 1968. Early life, education and career Jua was born on 24 November 1924 at Wum in Cameroon. He went to local schools and worked as a teacher in the Bamenda area. He became a member of Wum Native Authority Council under the British Trusteeship administration in 1952. Politics When the British Southern Cameroons was separated from Eastern Nigeria in 1954, Jua was elected as a member of Southern Cameroon's House of assembly. In 1955 he helped Mr J.N Foncha found the Kamerun National Democratic Party (KNDP), a party which favors reunification with the French Cameroon. British Cameroon or the British Cameroons was a British mandate territory in British West Africa, formed of the Northern Cameroons and Southern Cameroons. Today, the Northern Cameroons forms parts of the Borno, Adamawa and Taraba states of Nigeria, while the Southern Cameroons forms part of the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon. Ahmadou Ahidjo
Ahmadou Babatoura Ahidjo (24 August 192430 November 1989) was a Cameroonian politician who was the first List of Presidents of Cameroon, President of Cameroon, holding the office from 1960 until 1982. Ahidjo played a major role in Cameroon's independence from France as well as reuniting the French and English-speaking parts of the country. During Ahidjo's time in office, he established a centralized political system. Ahidjo established a single-party state under the Cameroon National Union (CNU) in 1966. In 1972, Ahidjo abolished the federation in favor of a unitary state. Ahidjo resigned from the presidency in 1982, and Paul Biya assumed the presidency. This was an action that was surprising to Cameroonians. Accused of being behind a coup plot against Biya in 1984, Ahidjo was sentenced to death in absentia, but he died of natural causes in 1989. Salomon Tandeng Muna (27 March 1912 – January 22, 2002) was a Cameroonian politician of the Cameroonian National Union. He served as the first Prime Minister of the federated state of West Cameroon from January 11, 1968 to June 2, 1972. Additionally, he served as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Cameroon from 1970 to 1972. He was President of the National Assembly of Cameroon from 1973 to 1988. Muna was very active in international scouting, where he became the Vice-President of the World Scout Committee (the first African member), after serving as Chief Scout of Cameroon, as well as Chairman of the African Scout Committee.
