Auguste Jean François Grenier
Auguste Jean François Grenier (22 September 1814, in Andelys – 13 July 1890, in Bagnères) was a French medical doctor and entomologist. He studied at Rouen, then at Paris where he qualified as a doctor in 1842. He was devoted to entomology only between 1857 and 1859. The war of 1870 put an end to his research. Grenier was especially interested in cavernicolous Coleoptera and made a large collection including the cave insect collections of Charles Nicholas Aubé (1802–1869) and of Jules Linder (1830–1869). His collection is preserved by the Société entomologique de France Groupe Lactalis S.A. (doing business as Lactalis) is a French multinational dairy products corporation, owned by the Besnier family and based in Laval, Mayenne, France. The company's former name was Besnier S.A. Andelys
Les Andelys (; Norman: ''Les Aundelys'') is a commune in the northern French department of Eure, in Normandy. Geography It lies on the Seine, about northeast of Évreux. The commune is divided into two parts, Grand-Andely (located about from the Seine) and Petit-Andely (situated on the right bank of the Seine). History Grand Andely, founded, according to tradition, in the 6th century, has a church (13th, 14th and 15th centuries) parts of which are of fine late Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The works of art in the interior include stained glass of the latter period. Coleoptera
Beetles are insects that form the Taxonomic rank, order Coleoptera (), in the superorder Holometabola. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects. Charles Nicholas Aubé
Charles Nicholas Aubé (6 May 1802 in Paris – 15 October 1869), was a French physician and entomologist. Aubé studied at the school of pharmacy in Paris, joining in botanical sorties organised by its members and by the Museum. Gaining his diploma in 1824, he married a sister of Gustave Planche (1808-1857) in 1826. Commencing studies in medicine in 1829 he gained the title of Doctor in 1836 with a thesis on "la gale" (scabies). He was a founding member of the Société Entomologique de France of which he was "Dirigent" or director in 1842 and 1846.
