August Klingler
August Klingler (24 February 1918 – 23 November 1944) was a German international footballer. He scored six goals in only five matches for the Germany national team in the midst of the Second World War. He scored three goals in Germany's final international during World War II in November 1942, but was killed on the Eastern Front in 1944. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. Attacking positions generally favour irrational players who ask questions to the defensive side of the opponent in order to create scoring chances, where they benefit from a lack of predictability in attacking play. The Germany national football team (german: link=no, Deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft) represents Germany in men's international football and played its first match in 1908. The team is governed by the German Football Association (''Deutscher Fußball-Bund''), founded in 1900.
