Audrey McCall
Audrey McCall (February 26, 1915 – November 15, 2007) was an American activist, environmentalist, politician, and former First Lady of Oregon from January 9, 1967, until January 13, 1975. The widow of former Governor Tom McCall, she became one of the most politically influential first ladies and former first ladies in Oregon's history. Following her husband's death in 1983, Audrey McCall championed a variety of political, social and environmental issues throughout the state. In particular, McCall sought to protect and expand the sweeping statewide land-use laws that had been implemented and signed into law by Governor McCall. She campaigned and fundraised on behalf of both Democratic and Republican political candidates. In 2017, Audrey McCall Beach, downtown Portland's newly constructed urban beach along the Willamette River, was named in honor of the former first lady. Human Access Project
Human Access Project (HAP) is an organization based in Portland, Oregon, whose mission is "transforming Portland's relationship with the Willamette River". The organization's vision is a city in love with its river. HAP was founded by Willie Levenson, whose official title is the organization's Ringleader, is Portland’s fiercest advocate for swimming in the Willamette River and is somewhat of an evangelist of Willamette River recreational access in Portland. The river is the city's second largest public space and natural area, but less than 5 percent of the city's footprint has access to the waterfront. Ted Wheeler
Edward Tevis Wheeler (born August 31, 1962) is an American politician who has served as the mayor of Portland, Oregon since 2017. He was Oregon State Treasurer from 2010 to 2016. Wheeler was elected in the 2016 Portland mayoral election and reelected in 2020. Formerly a registered Republican, he has been described as a moderate Democrat.
