Auckland County
Auckland County is one of the 141 cadastral divisions of New South Wales. It is at the extreme south-east of the state, with the Victorian border to the south, and the area to the north of the Brogo River the boundary to the north. It includes Bega, Eden and Merimbula. The county was named after George Eden George Eden, 1st Earl of Auckland, (25 August 1784 – 1 January 1849) was an English Whig politician and colonial administrator. Cadastral Divisions Of New South Wales
For lands administrative purposes, New South Wales is divided into 141 counties, which are further divided into parishes. The counties were first set down in the Colony of New South Wales, which later became the Australian state of New South Wales. The counties were further subdivided into 7,419 parishes. There are also three land divisions, approximately one hundred land districts, and several other types of districts as well as land boards used at various periods. There were also thirteen hundreds proclaimed in Cumberland County, which were later abolished. These divisions are part of the lands administrative divisions of Australia. Unlike the local government areas of New South Wales, which have gone through restructuring periods by the government, the counties have been the same since the nineteenth century. Bega River (New South Wales)
The Bega River is an intermittently open intermediate wave dominated barrier estuary that is located in the South Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. Course The Bega River rises at the confluence of the Bemboka River and Tantawanglo Creek at Morans Crossing, adjacent to the Snowy Mountains Highway. The headwaters of the river rise in the Kybeyan Range that is part of the Great Dividing Range. From Morans Crossing, the river flows generally east, then north northeast, before flowing to the northside of Bega where it meets its major tributary, the Brogo River. The Bega River then flows southeast and finally east to reach its mouth at the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean via Mogareeka Inlet, north of the town of Tathra. Merimbula is a town on the Merimbula Lake, located on the Far South Coast or Sapphire Coast of New South Wales, Australia. At the , the population was 3,544. The population within 10 km of the Merimbula Post office is over 18,000 people. The satellite town of Tura Beach lies within the 10 km population radius. Education Merimbula has one primary school; Merimbula Public School. However, the town does not have a high school.
