Atwater is west-northwest of Merced, California, Merced, at an elevation of . The population as of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census was 31,970, up from 28,168 in 2010. Geography Atwater is in northern Merced County, between Merced, the county seat, to the southeast and Livingston, California, Livingston to the northwest. Atwater station is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Ville-Marie in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Green Line on the border between the city of Westmount and Montreal. The station opened on October 14, 1966, as part of the original network of the Metro; it was the western terminus of the Green Line until the extension to Angrignon in 1978. William Felix "Jack" Atwater (born November 12, 1945) is an author and former Director of the United States Army Ordnance Museum in Aberdeen, Maryland, United States. Atwater is also a frequent guest contributor to a variety of television programs that draw on his expertise in military weaponry. Early life Atwater graduated from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, in 1968 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science. Following a decade of service in the U.S. military, he attended Duke University where he was awarded a Master of Arts in Military History in 1984 and a Ph.D in military history in 1985. Career Upon graduation from Berea College, Atwater was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Marines. Tanya Atwater (born 1942) is an American geophysicist and marine geologist who specializes in plate tectonics. She is particularly renowned for her early research on the plate tectonic history of western North America. Early life and education Atwater was born in Los Angeles, California in 1942.
