Attitude (Troop Album)
''Attitude'' is the second album by new jack swing group Troop released by Atlantic Records on October 13, 1989. The album features numerous debuts by a few well known musicians. The songs "My Music" and "I Will Always Love You" marked the debut of record producer Dallas Austin, who co-produced the songs with his mentor Joyce "Fenderella" Irby - a former member of the band Klymaxx. A then-unknown Trent Reznor appeared as one of the recording engineers on the Gerald Levert produced songs "That's My Attitude" and "For You". The video version of the single "Spread My Wings" was the one of the first songs remixed by hip hop producer Clark Kent. ''Attitude'' was the highest-charting album from Troop, peaking within the Top 5 on the Top R&B Albums chart and received a gold certification. Troop is an American Contemporary R&B, R&B group from Pasadena, California, United States. The group has had three number-one singles and ten top-ten singles on the ''Billboard'' R&B Singles chart. They have also completed five albums, which include three certified gold and one certified platinum album. TROOP is an acronym for "Total Respect of Other People". The group is most notable for a series of number-one R&B hits, including popular cover songs, cover versions of the songs "All I Do Is Think of You" and "Sweet November (song), Sweet November", originally performed by musical acts the Jackson 5 and the Deele, respectively. Brian Holland
Brian Holland (born February 15, 1941) is an American songwriter and record producer, best known as a member of Holland–Dozier–Holland, the songwriting and production team that was responsible for much of the Motown sound, and numerous hit records by artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Holland, along with Lamont Dozier, served as the team's musical arranger and producer. He has written or co-written 145 hits in US and 78 in the UK. Holland was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States. For a short time, he partnered with Robert Bateman, and together they were known as "Brianbert", collaborating on such hits as " Please Mr. Postman" for The Marvelettes. Marcus Melvin "Marc" Gordon (October 14, 1935 – June 16, 2010) was an American Grammy-winning record producer, songwriter and music executive, best known for his work with Hal Davis at Motown, and for his later involvement with The 5th Dimension. Biography Gordon was born in Denver, Colorado and initially worked as an engineer with the Howard Hughes Corporation. Around 1960, he started managing and also writing songs with R&B singer Hal Davis, in Los Angeles. Chuckii
''Chuckii'' is the debut album by the Los Angeles, California-based R&B/soul singer/musician/producer Chuckii Booker. Booker performed all of the vocals and instrumentation on the album, with the exception of the album's biggest hit, " Turned Away," which featured backing vocals from co-writer Donnell Spencer, Jr., and "Oh Lover," which features Gerald Albright on saxophone. The CD version of the album includes an additional track, "Keep Your Guard Up," which feature's Booker's mother, Selestine Booker on the piano. Reception Released in May 1989, the album featured three massively successful singles, with the first, "Turned Away" topping the R&B charts and placing at number 42 on the Pop Charts. The Jackson 5 (sometimes stylized as the Jackson 5ive, also known as the Jacksons) are an American pop band composed of members of the Jackson family. The group was founded in 1964 in Gary, Indiana, and for most of their career consisted of brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. They were managed by their father Joe Jackson. The group were among the first African American performers to attain a crossover following. The Jackson 5 performed in talent shows and clubs on the Chitlin' Circuit, then signed with Steeltown Records in 1967 and released two singles. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. Rodolfo Franklin Sr. (born September 28, 1967), known professionally as Clark Kent or DJ Clark Kent, is an American hip hop record producer, DJ and music executive of Panamanian descent. His crew of DJs is called "The Supermen", and his DJ moniker is derived from the name of Superman's alter ego. Music career In the late 1980s, DJ Clark Kent was rapper Dana Dane's DJ.
