George Attfield
George Cooke Attfield (27 January 1826 – 16 January 1925) was an English medical practitioner and first-class cricketer. Early life and background George Attfield was born at Bath, Somerset. The entry in the Rugby School register for his brother William Attfield, also a cricketer, gives their father as "Rev. W. Attfield, Park-Street", Bath. The Rev. William Attfield, a graduate of Oriel College, Oxford, died at 14 Park Street, Bath in 1861, aged 71; a newspaper report from 1926 confirms he was George's father, and states he played twice for the Gentlemen against the Players. From 1814 he was a curate at St Alkmund, Shrewsbury, and in 1821 he married Mary Anne Cooke, third daughter of S. Cooke of Swan Hill House, Shrewsbury. Cricket Attfield's batting style is unknown. He made his first-class debut for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against the West of England in 1845 at Cricket Down, Bath. Henry Attfield
Henry Attfield (1756 – c. 1829) was an English cricketer who made his first known appearance in the 1773 season. Aged 17 at the time, he must have been a genuine 1773 debutant. He was a native of Bagshot in Surrey. He played frequently for Surrey but was still only 26 when his career ended in 1782. He seems to have been known as "Field" and this often appeared on old scorecards. Roger Attfield
Roger L. Attfield (born 28 November 1939 in Newbury, Berkshire, England) is a Canadian thoroughbred horse trainer and owner and an inductee of both the Canadian and United States horseracing Halls of Fame. In his native England, Attfield had become an accomplished international-level equestrian competitor when he emigrated to Canada in 1970. Five years later he returned to the sport he loved and began working as a trainer of show jumping horses and eventually was offered the chance to train thoroughbred race horses. Instant success led to training opportunities for other owners including for Frank Stronach and Kinghaven Farms where he met with his greatest success. A resident of Nobleton, Ontario, Roger Attfield won the Sovereign Award for Outstanding Trainer a record six times.
