Atteln
Atteln is a village in the district of Paderborn, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Formerly an independent municipality, it is part of the town Lichtenau since 1975. Geography Location Atteln is situated in the Paderborn tableland, approximately 20 km south of Paderborn. Atteln is the central town in the Altenau valley. Neighbouring settlements Starting in the north, rotating clockwise, Etteln, Dörenhagen, Ebbinghausen, Husen, Dalheim, Elisenhof, Helmern and Henglarn are neighbouring villages of Atteln. History Germanic tribes were living in the area of Atteln already 5000 years ago, and their traces can still be seen today. Seven cist graves, two of them in Atteln, have been discovered in the Altenau valley. The largest cist grave has been excavated in Atteln in 1978. Paderborn (district)
Paderborn () is a Kreis (district) in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Neighboring districts are Gütersloh, Lippe, Höxter, Hochsauerland, and Soest. History Paderborn was part of the Bishopric of Paderborn until it was included into Prussia in 1802. After the Napoleonic wars when Prussia created the province Westphalia it also created five districts roughly covering the area of the previous state - Brakel, Büren, Höxter, Paderborn and Warburg. In 1975 Paderborn and Büren districts were merged to the current Paderborn district. At the same time the towns and municipalities in the district were merged to form today's ten towns and municipalities. It is a rural district with urban municipalities. Geography The Paderborn district is located at the western slope of the Teutoburg Forest, west of the Eggegebirge. Dalheim ( lb, Duelem) is a commune and town in south-eastern Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Remich, which is part of the district of Grevenmacher. , the town of Dalheim, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 1,232. Other towns within the commune include Filsdorf and Welfrange. Church The church in Dalheim, built in 1743, is a Catholic church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul.
