Attack from the Sea (russian: Корабли штурмуют бастионы, Korabli shturmuyut bastiony) is a 1953 Soviet biographical film, biographical war film directed by Mikhail Romm and starring Ivan Pereverzev, Gennadi Yudin and Vladimir Druzhnikov.Rollberg p.249 The film is about the career of the Russian naval officer Fyodor Ushakov and the Siege of Corfu (1798–99). It was made by the Moscow-based Ministry of Cinematography by the production unit Mosfilm, in Agfa, Agfa-color, renamed Sovcolor by Moscow. Admiral Ushakov (film)
''Admiral Ushakov'' (russian: Адмирал Ушаков) is a 1953 Soviet historical war film directed by Mikhail Romm and starring Ivan Pereverzev, Boris Livanov and Sergei Bondarchuk. The film portrays the career of Feodor Ushakov, a celebrated naval officer and contemporary of Horatio Nelson. It is followed by the sequel ''Attack from the Sea''. The first part of the filmology, filmed in 1953 by the director Mikhail Romm with actor Ivan Pereverzev in the title role. The film is dedicated to the formation of the Russian fleet on the Black Sea. History of creation The original version of the script was written by the historian-novelist Anatoly Vinogradov in 1944, during his stay at the front. In the credits of the film Vinogradov's surname is not indicated, however the script is listed in the official bibliography. Iosif Tolchanov (russian: link=no, Иосиф Толчанов) was a Soviet actor. Honored Artist of the USSR (1962). Biography Iosif was born on 11 May 1891 in Moscow. From 1911 to 1914 he studied at the University of Liège in France, after which he entered the Mamonov Studio in Moscow. In 1918 he became a member of the Vakhtangov studio. In 1920 he began teaching, he worked in an Uzbek theater studio, in the Yakutsk GITIS studio, in the Shchukin Theater School. Nikolai Svobodin (20 May 1898 - 20 September 1965) was a Soviet actor of the Socialist realism genre. He was born in village Uzmore, Novouzensk uyezd, Samara Governorate, Russian Empire (modern-day Engelssky District, Saratov Oblast, Russia) as Nikolay Kapitonovich Pechkin. Svobodin was a recipient of the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, the Medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945" and the Medal "In Commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of Moscow". He was a People's Artist of the RSFSR and a recipient of the Stalin Prize. He was a faculty member at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. He died in Moscow, RSFSR, USSR. Pavel Pavlovich Pavlenko (russian: Павел Павлович Павленко) (20 September 1902 – 9 March 1993) was a Soviet stage and film actor. Life Born in Kiev, he later moved to Moscow and graduated in 1919 from the Moscow City Theatrical School named for Anatoly Lunacharsky. He tried to join the Moscow Operetta, but was rejected by Grigory Yaron, who said, "We do not need a second Yaron!" He debuted on the stage in 1920. He worked in the Moscow Ukrainian Theater, in the Children's Theater, and elsewhere. During the Great Patriotic War, he played in the Mossovet Theatre. After the war, he appeared more frequently in films, and was a favorite of Aleksandr Rou. His film career came to an end in the late seventies. He died in obscurity in Moscow in 1993.
