Atsushi Nonaka
is a Japanese politician and a member of the House of Representatives. Career Nonaka was born in Kazo City, Saitama Prefecture. After graduating from Kuki City Honmachi Elementary School, Keio Junior High School, and Keio Senior High School, he graduated from Keio Gijuku University's Faculty of Commerce in 2004. In June 2005, he joined Saireki Construction Industry Company, where his relatives are representative directors. In April 2007, he ran as an independent in the Saitama Prefectural Assembly election and won a seat for the first time. After winning the election, he received additional nominations from the LDP and joined the party. In April 2011, he ran in the Saitama Prefectural Assembly election with the LDP's official approval and was re-elected without a vote. is a Japanese politician and diplomat who currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party. He has previously served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 2019 to 2021, and as Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry from 2012 to 2014. He is serving in the House of Representatives as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. He leads the Heisei Kenkyūkai faction within the LDP. 2021 Japanese General Election
General elections were held in Japan on 31 October 2021, as required by the constitution. Voting took place in all constituencies in order to elect members to the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet. As the constitution requires the cabinet to resign in the first Diet session after a general election, the elections will also lead to a new election for Prime Minister in the Diet, and the appointment of a new cabinet, although ministers may be re-appointed. The election was the first general election of the Reiwa era. The election followed a tumultuous period in Japanese politics which saw the sudden resignation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2020 due to health issues and the short premiership of his successor Yoshihide Suga, who stepped down as leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) after only about a year in office due to poor approval ratings. The Fourth Abe Cabinet governed Japan under the leadership of Prime Minister Shinzō Abe from November 2017 to September 2020. The government is a coalition between the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komeito (which had changed its name from "New Komeito" in the 2012–2014 term) and controls both the upper and lower houses of the National Diet.
