Atrai River (also spelt as Atreyee) ( bn, আত্রাই/আত্রেয়ী নদী) flows in West Bengal and northern parts of Bangladesh. In ancient times the river was called Atreyee and finds a mention in the Mahabharata, one of the two Sanskrit epics of ancient India.. It is linked with Jorapani river, Fuleswari river, and Karatoya River. It originates in Siliguri ward no 40, near baikanthapur forest West Bengal and then after flowing through Dinajpur District of Bangladesh, it enters India again. It passes through Kumarganj and Balurghat community development blocks in Dakshin Dinajpur district. The river then renters Bangladesh. Atrai Upazila
Atrai ( bn, আত্রাই) is the southernmost upazila of Naogaon District, located in Bangladesh's Rajshahi Division. It is named after its principal watercourse, the Atrai River. Geography Atrai has 30570 households and total area 284.41 km2. Along with the Atrai River, the Nagor River, Pakar Beel, Chander Beel, Kaklaban Beel are notable water bodies. History It is said that Islam Khan I, a Mughal Subahdar of Bengal, passed through Atrai (hence many villages have names such as Islampur and Islamganthi) and constructed a mosque known as the Islamganthi Mosque in the seventeenth century. Atrai later came under the zamindari of the Mollah political family. In 1916, Atrai was officially established as a thana. In 1968, the Mollah Azad Memorial College was founded in Atrai. Despite the similarities between the Hijet name and Toyota's naming scheme for its trucks and vans (HiAce and Hilux), the name "Hijet" has been in use for Daihatsu's kei trucks and microvans since 1960, over two decades before Toyota took control. "Hijet", when transliterated into Japanese, is very similar to "Midget", one of Daihatsu's other mini-trucks. According to Daihatsu, the name "Hijet" was created to imply that the vehicle offers higher performance than the Midget.
