Chloropterus
''Chloropterus'' is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. It is distributed in Eastern Europe, West to Central Asia and North Africa. The genus was originally established under the name ''Heterocnemis'' by the Russian entomologist Ferdinand Morawitz in 1860 for a single species, '' Heterocnemis versicolor''. However, the name ''Heterocnemis'' had already been used for a genus of flower chafers (Cetoniinae), so Morawitz renamed his genus to ''Chloropterus'' the following year. Species * '' Chloropterus bimaculatus'' ( Raffray, 1873) * '' Chloropterus fiorii'' Ruffo, 1965 * '' Chloropterus grandis'' Weise, 1889 * '' Chloropterus inornatus'' ( Chen, 1935) * '' Chloropterus lefevrei'' Reitter, 1890 ** '' Chloropterus lefevrei arabicus'' Lopatin, 2008 ** '' Chloropterus lefevrei lefevrei'' Reitter, 1890 * '' Chloropterus mateui'' (Selman, 1969) * '' Chloropterus moldaviensis'' Pic, 1909 * '' Chloropterus ornatus'' Lopatin, 1984 * '' Chloropterus pallidus'' C ... Typophorini
Typophorini is a tribe of leaf beetles in the subfamily Eumolpinae. The tribe contains approximately 100 genera, which are found worldwide. Members of the tribe are mainly characterized by notches on the tibiae of the middle and hind legs, which are sometimes referred to as antenna cleaners. They also generally have a subglabrous body, as well as bifid pretarsal claws. Taxonomy Following the leaf beetle classification of Seeno and Wilcox (1982), the genera of Typophorini are largely divided into five informal groups or "sections": Callisinites, Metachromites, Nodostomini, Pagriites and Typophorites, with some genera having ''incertae sedis'' placement within the tribe. In the ''Catalog of the leaf beetles of America North of Mexico'', published in 2003, the section Scelodontites of Bromiini was transferred to Typophorini. Genera These 76 genera belong to the tribe Typophorini: * '' Afroeurydemus'' Selman, 1965 * '' Amblynetes'' Weise, 1904 * '' Aphilenia'' Weise ''in'' Reitt ... Georgiy Jacobson
Georgiy Georgiyevich Jacobson also known as Jakobson ( ru , Георгий Георгиевич Якобсон, 1871 – 23 November 1926) was a pioneering Russian entomologist, known especially for his 900-page book on beetles. Biography Jacobson was born in St Petersburg, and in 1893 he graduated from St Petersburg University's Physics and Mathematics faculty. He was a zoologist at the Zoological Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was posted to different parts of Russia to study its insects. He published papers mainly on the systematics and zoogeography of Chrysomelidae beetles. Beetles Jacobson's ''Beetles'' was first published in 1905 by Devriena, St Petersburg. The eleventh and last edition appeared in 1915. Many of the fine colour plates were based on Carl Gustav Calwer's ''Kaeferbuch'', with updates to the names of some of the beetles. This saving of effort on illustration allowed Jacobson to focus on illustrating species of beetle that had never been il ... Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental country located mainly in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe. It borders Russia to the north and west, China to the east, Kyrgyzstan to the southeast, Uzbekistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest, with a coastline along the Caspian Sea. Its capital is Astana, known as Nur-Sultan from 2019 to 2022. Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest city, was the country's capital until 1997. Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country, the largest and northernmost Muslim-majority country by land area, and the ninth-largest country in the world. It has a population of 19 million people, and one of the lowest population densities in the world, at fewer than 6 people per square kilometre (15 people per square mile). The country dominates Central Asia economically and politically, generating 60 percent of the region's GDP, primarily through its oil and gas industry; it also has vast mineral ... Chrysomelidae Genera
The insects of the beetle family Chrysomelidae are commonly known as leaf beetles, and include over 37,000 (and probably at least 50,000) species in more than 2,500 genera, making up one of the largest and most commonly encountered of all beetle families. Numerous subfamilies are recognized, but the precise taxonomy and systematics are likely to change with ongoing research. Leaf beetles are partially recognizable by their tarsal formula, which appears to be 4-4-4, but is actually 5-5-5 as the fourth tarsal segment is very small and hidden by the third. As with many taxa, no single character defines the Chrysomelidae; instead, the family is delineated by a set of characters. Some lineages are only distinguished with difficulty from longhorn beetles (family Cerambycidae), namely by the antennae not arising from frontal tubercles. Adult and larval leaf beetles feed on all sorts of plant tissue, and all species are fully herbivorous. Many are serious pests of cultivated plants, fo ... Ashgabat is the capital and largest city. The population is about 6 million, the lowest of the Central Asian republics, and Turkmenistan is one of the most sparsely populated nations in Asia. Turkmenistan has long served as a thoroughfare for other nations and cultures. Merv is one of the oldest oasis-cities in Central Asia, and was once the biggest city in the world. It was also one of the great cities of the Islamic world and an important stop on the Silk Road.
