Atlântida Cinematográfica
Atlântida Cinematográfica was a Brazilian film studio, founded 18 September 1941 in Rio de Janeiro by Moacir Fenelon and José Carlos Burle. It produced a total of 66 films before 1962, when it ceased operations, having become the most successful film production company in Brazil. The studio's first production was ''Moleque Tião'', but its success came from the genre known as '' chanchada'', low-budget films with great popular appeal, such as ''Nem Sansão nem Dalila'', Carlos Manga's ''Matar ou Correr'', and Watson Macedo's ''Aviso aos navegantes'' featuring Anselmo Duarte. A film studio (also known as movie studio or simply studio) is a major entertainment company that makes films. Today, studios are mostly financing and distribution entities. Grande Otelo (October 18, 1915 – November 26, 1993) was the stage name of Brazilian actor, comedian, singer, and composer Sebastião Bernardes de Souza Prata. Otelo was born in Uberlândia, and was orphaned as a child. He kept running away from the families that adopted him; only when he took up art did his life become settled. Grande Otelo started his film career in 1935 in the movie ''Noites Cariocas''. He was also renowned for the comic duo he formed with Oscarito. He died, aged 78, in Charles de Gaulle Airport near Paris and was buried in São Pedro cemetery in Uberlândia, Brazil. Mafalda Basílio Monteiro dos Santos (29 August 1924 – 15 December 2024) was a Brazilian actress, active in the country's classic era. Life and career Santoro was born in Rio de Janeiro on 29 August 1924. Fada began her career at a very young age, working as a dancer in the Alda Garrido Company and later as a crooner in casinos in the 1940s.
