Atlantic Baseball Confederation
Founded in 2002, the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League is a 12-team Collegiate summer baseball, collegiate summer baseball league composed of teams located throughout New Jersey. The league President is Mike Kolesar. The ABCCL aims to prepare collegiate baseball players for their spring seasons and to play professionally post-graduation. Many ABCCL alums have played in the Major League Baseball, major, Minor League Baseball, minor, and independent baseball leagues. Collegiate Summer Baseball
Collegiate summer baseball leagues are amateur baseball leagues in the United States and Canada featuring players who have attended at least one year of college and have at least one year of athletic eligibility remaining. Generally, they operate from early June to early August. In contrast to college baseball, which allow aluminum or other composite baseball bats, players in these leagues use only wooden bats, hence the common nickname of these leagues as "wood-bat leagues". Collegiate summer leagues allow college baseball players the ability to compete using professional rules and equipment, giving them experience and allowing professional scouts the opportunity to observe players under such conditions. To find a collegiate summer team, players work with their college coaches and prospective teams' general managers. Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. MLB is composed of 30 total teams, divided equally between the National League (NL) and the American League (AL), with 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. The NL and AL were formed in 1876 and 1901, respectively. Beginning in 1903, the two leagues signed the National Agreement and cooperated but remained legally separate entities until 2000, when they merged into a single organization led by the Commissioner of Baseball. Independent Baseball League
An independent baseball league is a professional baseball organization in the United States or Canada that is not overseen by Major League Baseball and is outside the Minor League Baseball clubs affiliated to it. The Northern League and Frontier League both started play in 1993, and the Northern League's success paved the way for other independent leagues like the Texas-Louisiana League and Northeast League. The Atlantic League has had more marquee players than any other independent league, including Jose Canseco, Mat Latos, Steve Lombardozzi Jr., Francisco Rodríguez, Chien-Ming Wang, Roger Clemens, Rich Hill, Scott Kazmir, Juan González, John Rocker, and Dontrelle Willis. Ryan Buchter
Ryan James Buchter (born February 13, 1987) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He previously played in MLB for the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, and Arizona Diamondbacks. Career Washington Nationals Buchter was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 33rd round of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft out of Highland Regional High School in Blackwood, New Jersey. He went on to play college baseball in the 2006 season at Gloucester County College in Sewell, New Jersey before ultimately signing with the Nationals. He began his professional career with the Gulf Coast Nationals in 2006 where he was 7.24 ERA in 11 games and made one start. Ryan Doherty
Ryan Daniel Doherty (born February 2, 1984) is an American professional beach volleyball player. Career Start in baseball Doherty, who was born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey, grew up playing baseball, including at Toms River High School East. He was named the 2002 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of New Jersey and was awarded a partial scholarship to play baseball at the University of Notre Dame for the Fighting Irish. He is believed to have been the tallest player in the history of the National Collegiate Athletic Association baseball history. Ryan Doolittle
Sean Robert Doolittle (born September 26, 1986) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Washington Nationals organization. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners and Nationals. He won the 2019 World Series with the Nationals, earning a save in game one. The Athletics selected Doolittle in the first round in the 2007 MLB draft, as a first baseman and outfielder. He made his MLB debut in 2012 as a pitcher. He was an All-Star in 2014 and 2018. Ryan Kalish
Ryan Michael Kalish (born March 28, 1988) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox in 2010 and 2012 and for the Chicago Cubs in 2014 and 2016. A standout high school baseball and football player, he was drafted by the Red Sox in 2006. In the minor leagues, he was twice voted the Red Sox Minor League Base-Stealer of the Month (June 2007 & April 2009), and was also named a New York–Penn League All-Star (2007), a Red Sox Minor League Player of the Month (July 2008), and the Red Sox Minor League Offensive Player of the Year (2009). Cole A. Kimball (born August 1, ) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Career Born in Brooklyn, Kimball moved to the Great Meadows section of Independence Township, New Jersey as a child. A graduate of Hackettstown High School, Kimball first attended St. John's University in New York, before transferring to Centenary College of New Jersey and was selected by the Nationals in the 12th round of the 2006 amateur draft. Fernando Perez (baseball)
Fernando Perez (born April 23, 1983) is an American current Major League Baseball (MLB) coach for the San Francisco Giants, former professional baseball outfielder, and a professional writer. He played baseball at Columbia University. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 7th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball draft. In while for the Visalia Oaks, Perez led the minor leagues with 123 runs. He played in MLB for the Rays in 2008 and 2009.
