Atlanta Silverbacks FC
The Atlanta Silverbacks FC were an American professional soccer club based in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1998 as Atlanta Ruckus, the club played in many leagues over the years before folding after the 2015 season. The team played its home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, a large soccer complex featuring a 5,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in Atlanta, 15 miles northeast of downtown. The team's colors were red, black, grey, and white. The club had 2 independent supporter groups, Westside 109 and the Atlanta Ultras. The Ultras were established in 2011 & were known to support both the Silverbacks men's and women's side. The Ultras were also to be known for their fanatical support at Silverbacks Park, as well as away matches. They had a reputation for their unfriendly or challenging attitude towards fans from opposing clubs. Atlanta Silverbacks Park is a sports complex in unincorporated DeKalb County, just outside Atlanta, United States that is currently used primarily for soccer. It was formerly the home venue of the Atlanta Silverbacks soccer club, from which the complex gets its name. It is also the home of the Atlanta Rhinos of USA Rugby League, Atlanta Renegades Rugby Club, as well as Rugby ATL of Major League Rugby. Mo Suri
Moises "Mo" Suri is a retired American soccer player. He played professionally in the National Professional Soccer League, A-League and USISL. In 1986, Suri, younger brother of Caleb Suri, turned professional with the Louisville Thunder of the American Indoor Soccer Association. That season, the Thunder won the AISA championship and Suri was named to the All Rookie Team. He moved to the Milwaukee Wave in 1987 and went on to play four seasons with them. He left the team in 1991, but on October 22, 1992, the Wave signed Suri. He played two seasons with the Wave, then announced his retirement in August 1994. A few weeks later, he signed with the Atlanta Magic of the USISL. The Magic won the 1994-1995 USISL indoor championship and Suri was selected as league MVP. Willie B
Willie B. (C. 1957 - February 2, 2000) was a western lowland gorilla who lived at the Zoo of Atlanta for 39 years, from 1961 until his death on February 2, 2000. He was named after the former mayor of Atlanta, William Berry Hartsfield. Willie B. was kept in isolation for 27 years with only a television and a tire swing to keep him company. In 1988, he was moved to an outside exhibit and allowed to socialize and raise a family. He then embraced his role as silverback and leader of a troop. Willie B. was the second Gorilla known by that name at the Atlanta Zoo. The previous Willie B had died at the age of 3 shortly before the better-known successor was purchased. The 1995 A-League season was the sixth A-League season and first after being renamed from the American Professional Soccer League. Overview In 1995, the American Professional Soccer League, which was the de facto highest level of U.S. soccer (officially sanctioned U.S. second division) until MLS commenced, changed its name to the A-League. The league had ended its 1994 season with seven teams and intended to expand to ten for the 1995 season with new franchises in Detroit and Atlanta. Justinus Soni "Justin" Fashanu ( ; 19 February 1961 – 2 May 1998) was an English footballer who played for a variety of clubs between 1978 and 1997.
