The Atlanta Sharks were a professional indoor football team based in Loganville, Georgia. They were members of American Indoor Football (AIF) during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. The Sharks joined the AIF in 2013 as an expansion team, by then owner Betty Chaney-Robinson. The Sharks played all of their games on the road as a travel team. History The Sharks were announced as an expansion member of American Indoor Football (AIF) on September 6, 2013. On November 19, 2013, Marcus James was officially named the team's first head coach. In the franchise's first ever game, they were defeated 87-32 by the Cape Fear Heroes. The Sharks started the 2015 season having agreed to play their home games at Creekside Sports Center in Loganville, Georgia. However, when the Sharks were supposed to host the Saginaw Sting during Week 2 of the season, the game was postponed to Week 10. Loganville, Georgia
Loganville is a city in Walton and Gwinnett counties, Georgia, United States. The population was 10,458 at the 2010 census. Loganville is located about east of Atlanta and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. History An early variant name was "Buncombe". It was then renamed after James Harvie Logan, an early settler. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Loganville as a town in 1887. Geography Loganville is in western Walton County, with the city limits extending west into southeastern Gwinnett County. 2015 American Indoor Football Season
The 2015 American Indoor Football season was the tenth season of American Indoor Football (AIF). The regular season began March 20, 2015, and ended on May 23, 2015. Each team will played an 8-game schedule, with the exception of the Maryland Eagles, who were scheduled to play a 4-game schedule, all on the road. The top 4 teams in the league advanced to the playoffs that began on May 30, 2015. Pre-season The 2015 offseason saw major change for the AIF, as the defending champion Baltimore Mariners and Cleveland Patriots both folded and the Rochester Raiders suspended operations. The Cape Fear Heroes left the league to join the X-League Indoor Football. The league had also announced the expansion of the Buffalo Lightning and the Carolina Silverhawks. American Indoor Football
American Indoor Football (AIF) was a professional indoor football league, one of the several regional professional indoor football leagues in North America. The AIFL began as a regional league with six franchises on the East Coast of the United States in 2005. After a rapid, and largely failed, expansion effort in 2006, most of the league's remaining teams jumped to the new AIFA (the rest joined the short-lived WIFL). The AIFA expanded throughout existing territory and, in 2008, expanded into the Western United States. The league legally divided into two entities to allow for a partial merger with the Southern Indoor Football League, which resulted in all of its Eastern teams merging into the SIFL and the AIFA only maintaining its western teams.
