Atlanta Datagraphic
Atlanta Datagraphic was an amateur U.S. soccer club sponsored by the Datagraphic firm of Atlanta, Georgia. It won the 1979 National Amateur Cup. History In 1979, George D. Baker, president of Datagraphic, a printing firm located in Atlanta, Georgia, founded a men’s amateur soccer team. The team rapidly proved itself as one nation’s top amateur clubs as it took the 1979 National Amateur Cup. Over the years, the club expanded to include youth, women’s and over-30 teams. By the mid-1980s, the club had over thirty teams. In 1986, the senior team was coached by David Chadwick. In 1992, it fielded a semi-professional club, the Atlanta Datagraphic Magic in the USISL. Datagraphic played in the Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League during the 1980s. National Amateur Cup
The National Amateur Cup, also known as the USASA Amateur Cup, is an American soccer competition open to all amateur teams affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation through United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). In 1923, U.S. Soccer established the National Amateur Cup in response to the growing number of teams entering the open National Challenge Cup (now known as the U.S. Open Cup). The 1923 competition was played through the semifinals, however the tournament was never completed due to inclement weather. While the USSF originally managed the competition, that responsibility is now held by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). David Chadwick (footballer)
David Edwin Chadwick (born 19 August 1943) is an English retired professional footballer/soccer player, who played as a wing-forward, before a career coaching in the United States. He was born in Ootacamund, India. Playing career Chadwick began his career as a junior with Southampton, and became the youngest player to appear for their reserves on 31 October 1959, aged 16 years 73 days. He turned professional in October 1960 and made his first-team debut on 4 November 1961, at home to Bristol Rovers in place of the injured Terry Paine. His six years at the Dell were spent in the shadow of Paine and John Sydenham and as a result he only made 25 league appearances for The Saints, in which he scored once. In July 1966 he moved to Middlesbrough, costing the Ayresome Park side £10,000, and slotted straight into the side, making his Boro debut on 20 August against Colchester United. The Atlanta Magic were a soccer club that competed in the USISL from 1991 to 1996. The club originally started in 1991/92 in the indoor USISL league. They played in the 1992 USISL outdoor season as the Atlanta Datagraphic Magic, and the 1993 USISL outdoor season as the Atlanta Lasers. United Soccer League (USL), formerly known as United Soccer Leagues, is a soccer league in the United States and Canada. It organizes several men's and women's leagues, both professional and amateur. Men's leagues currently organized are the USL Championship, USL League One, USL League Two, and the youth Super Y League. A new women's league, the USL W League, began play in 2022. Tim Hankinson
Timothy Milledge Hankinson (February 18, 1955 – September 22, 2022) was an American soccer coach. He initially coached American college teams, before becoming head coach in Major League Soccer, as well as managing teams in Iceland, India, and Jamaica. Early career Hankinson was born in New York City on February 18, 1955. His father, Richard "Dick" Hankinson, was a pianist; his mother, Nelle "Pokey" Hankinson (née Rahm), was "an actress in the early days of television". Hankinson's career as a player began at age 5 as a kindergarten student at St. David's School. The school had a relationship with a German soccer coach who taught the students how to play the game on the grassy spaces at nearby Central Park. John Staniforth (coach)
John Staniforth (1771–1830) was a British politician and director of the Bank of England. Early life John Staniforth was the son of Charles Staniforth, a merchant of both the Broad Street Buildings, London and Kingston-Upon-Hull, and his wife Ann Green. His uncles John Staniforth (1725-1798), Philip Green and Joseph Green were notable Hull shipowners, and his uncle Joseph Green was based in Königsberg. On his father's death in 1797, John went into partnership with John Blunt, and carried on his father's London business. Parliamentary career His uncle Philip Green brought him to Hull and persuaded him to stand for election to Parliament. Atlanta Silverbacks
The Atlanta Silverbacks FC were an American professional soccer club based in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1998 as Atlanta Ruckus, the club played in many leagues over the years before folding after the 2015 season. The team played its home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, a large soccer complex featuring a 5,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in Atlanta, 15 miles northeast of downtown. The team's colors were red, black, grey, and white. The club had 2 independent supporter groups, Westside 109 and the Atlanta Ultras. The Ultras were established in 2011 & were known to support both the Silverbacks men's and women's side. The Ultras were also to be known for their fanatical support at Silverbacks Park, as well as away matches.
