Athletics At The 2012 Summer Paralympics
Athletics events at the 2012 Summer Paralympics were held in the Olympic Stadium and in The Mall in London, United Kingdom, from 31 August to 9 September 2012. Classification Athletes were given a classification depending on the type and extent of their disability. The classification system allowed athletes to compete against others with a similar level of function. The athletics classifications are: *11–13: Blind (11) and visually impaired (12, 13) athletes *20: Athletes with an intellectual disability *31–38: Athletes with cerebral palsy *40: Les Autres (others) (including people with dwarfism) *42–46: Amputees *51–58: Athletes with a spinal cord disability The class numbers were given prefixes of "T", "F" and "P" for track, field and pentathlon events, respectively. Rosemary Little
Rosemary Little (born 27 August 1982) is an Australian Paralympic athlete. She won a bronze medal in wheelchair racing at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and has also competed in handcycling. She competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, her third Games, where switched from wheelchair racing to shot put. Personal Little was born on 27 August 1982 in Mackay, Queensland, and is from West Pennant Hills, New South Wales. She has a brain injury as a result of a brain virus. Amy Siemons (born 18 May 1985) is a Dutch wheelchair racer. Diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy and scoliosis, she took up athletics in 2005 and began to compete seriously in 2010. Her disability classification is T34. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics held in London, she came second in both the 100 m and 200 m events. Hannah Cockroft
Hannah Lucy Cockroft (born 30 July 1992) is a British wheelchair racer specialising in sprint distances in the T34 classification. She holds the world records for the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres and 1500 metres in her classification and the Paralympic records at 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres. Competing for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, she won two gold medals. She won three further gold medals at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Early years Cockroft was born on 30 July 1992 in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
