Janusz Jarzembowski
Janusz (Jan) Jarzembowski (29 November 1933 – 14 June 1961) was a Polish sprinter. He competed in the men's 100 metres at the 1956 Summer Olympics, exiting the competition at the quarter-final stage. At the same games, he competed in the Men's 200 metres, failing to qualify from his heat, and as a member of the Polish team in the Men's 4 × 100 metres relay, where Poland finished 6th in the final. In 1960, Jarzembowski was the Polish national champion in the men's 200 metres, with a time of 21.7 seconds. In the same year, he was part of Poland's 4 x 100 metres relay team at the 1960 Summer Olympics; they were disqualified in the heats. Jarzembowski was born in Poznań, the son of Bronisław and Joanna Jarzembowski, and trained at a Mechanical Technical School. Brian Shenton
Brian Shenton (15 March 1927 – 9 May 1987) was a track and field sprinter. He represented Great Britain in the men's 200 metres and men's 4x100 metres relay at two consecutive Summer Olympics (1952 and 1956). Born in Doncaster from a working-class background, he was a member of the Doncaster Plant Works Athletic Club, later having a successful career in the City and reaching the position of Chairman of Noble Lowndes. He died in a car crash soon after retirement. Shenton came to public attention in 1950 with a series of good performances, culminating in a place at the European Championships as a replacement. Described as the "boy from nowhere", he set a new personal best in the semi-finals of 21.6s, in the finals beating off the challenge of Étienne Bally. David Segal (athlete)
David Hugh Segal (born 20 March 1937) was a British track and field athlete who competed in the sprints. He had best times of 9.5 seconds for the 100 yards and 21.0 seconds for the 220 yards. While competing in the United States, he ran a time of 20.4 seconds for the straight 220 yards. He competed for Great Britain in the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, Italy in the 4 x 100 metre relay where he won the bronze medal with his teammates Peter Radford, David Jones and Neville Whitehead. Segal was also an excellent 200 meter sprinter. He was a European 200m silver medalist in 1958 and was British AAA 220-yard champion and record holder in 1958 and '59. In Rome he was in the 200m semi-final but was disqualified for two false starts. While not a favorite, he had been ranked as high as 8th in the world in the 200m by Track and Field News. Vincenzo Lombardo (21 January 1932, in Santo Stefano di Camastra – 2 December 2007, in Milan) was an Italian sprinter. Biography Vincenzo Lombardo won three medals at the International athletics competitions. He participated at two editions of the Summer Olympics (1952 and 1956), he has 14 caps in national team from 1955 to 1960. After a successful career in athletics, he became a General of "Guardia de Finanza" and was active against criminals. He eventually went back to sports, starting as a sports manager and then rising up as a Chairman of FIDAL Regional Committee in Lombardi.
