Troy Davis (athlete)
Troy Anthony Davis (October 9, 1968 – September 21, 2011) was a man convicted of and executed for the August 19, 1989 murder of police officer Mark MacPhail in Savannah, Georgia. MacPhail was working as a security guard at a Burger King restaurant and was intervening to defend a man being assaulted in a nearby parking lot when he was murdered. During Davis's 1991 trial, seven witnesses testified they had seen Davis shoot MacPhail, and two others testified Davis had confessed the murder to them. There were 34 witnesses who testified for the prosecution, and six others for the defense, including Davis. Although the murder weapon was not recovered, ballistic evidence presented at trial linked bullets recovered at or near the scene to those at another shooting in which Davis was also charged. Jerome Singleton (born July 7, 1986) is a Paralympic athlete from the United States competing mainly in category T44 (single below knee amputation) sprint events. Because he had no fibula in his right calf, his leg was amputated below the knee when he was 18 months old. Singleton was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, and attended Dutch Fork High School where he played varsity football, junior varsity basketball and track. He holds a bachelor's degree in math and applied physics from Morehouse College and a bachelor's in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan. He has worked as a researcher at NASA and CERN. Brian Frasure is a Paralympian athlete from the United States competing mainly in category T44 sprint events. He competed in the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. There he won a silver medal in the men's 100 metres - T44 event and was disqualified in the men's 200 metres - T44 event. He'd tested positive for Nandrolone. This was later overturned as there was no evidence of advertent use. Marlon Shirley
Marlon Shirley (born April 21, 1978) is a paralympic track and field, athlete from the United States competing mainly in T44 (classification), category T44 events. Biography Marlon's early life was spent in foster care around Las Vegas, and his left foot was amputated at the age of five after a lawnmower accident in an orphanage in Boulder City, Nevada. His life was turned around at the age of nine when he was adopted by a family in Tremonton, Utah. Marlon Shirley competed in the 2000 Summer Paralympics long jump, as well as a silver in the high jump and a gold in the 100m. He then defended his 100m title in 2004 Summer Paralympics where he also won a silver in the 200m and a bronze in long jump. He competed in just the 100m at the 2008 Summer Paralympics but could not defend his title, due to a ruptured achilles.
