Athletics At The 1992 Summer Olympics – Men's 100 Metres
The men's 100 metres was an event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. There were a total number of 81 participating athletes from 66 nations, with ten qualifying heats (three qualified plus two fastest losers). Each nation was limited to 3 athletes per rules in force since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The gold medal was won by Great Britain's Linford Christie, who had originally won the bronze medal in 1988 but was elevated to silver following the disqualification of original gold medalist Ben Johnson for using stanozolol. Silver went to Namibia's Frankie Fredericks, who also finished second in the 200 metres in Barcelona, while Dennis Mitchell of the United States of America won the bronze. Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium formerly known as the Estadi de Montjuïc and Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc and also known in English language, English as the Barcelona Olympic Stadium, is a stadium in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Ray Stewart (sprinter)
Raymond Douglas Stewart (born 18 March 1965 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a former Jamaican athlete who specialised in the 100 metres event. As a junior athlete Stewart found much success at the CARIFTA Games, winning five gold medals within a four-year period. In 1984 he reached the 100 m Olympic final and won an Olympic silver medal for the 4×100 metres relay. At the 1987 World Championships he took silver in the 100 m and bronze with the Jamaican relay team. A leg injury in the 1988 Olympic final of the 100 m ruined his medal chances in both the individual and relay events. A new personal best of 9.97 seconds at the NCAA Outdoor Championships made him the number one ranked 100 m athlete in 1989 and the first Jamaican to officially break the 10-second barrier. Samuel Nchinda
Samuel Nchinda-Kaya (born 25 May 1967) is a former Cameroonian sprinter. He competed in the men's 100m and 200m competitions at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics, reaching the semifinals in the 200m in 1988. He recorded a personal best of 10.24 seconds in the 100m in 1992. Nchinda-Kaya participated in various athletics meetings and championships, including the 1992 Résisprint International meeting and the 1992 and 1993 Swiss Athletics Championships. Vitaliy Anatolyevich Savin (; born 23 January 1966) is a former Soviet athlete from Kazakhstan and winner of the gold medal in 4 × 100 m relay at the 1988 Summer Olympics. At the Seoul Olympics, Vitaliy Savin reached the quarterfinal of 100 m and ran the anchoring leg in the Soviet 4 × 100 m relay team, which won the gold medal in absence of United States. At the 1991 World Championships, Savin was again eliminated in the quarterfinals of 100 m and was seventh in 4 × 100 m. Jaime Zelaya
Jaime Emilson Zelaya García (born 10 July 1965) is a Honduran sprinter. Zelaya would compete at the 1992 Summer Olympics, representing Honduras in two sprinting events. In the men's 100 metres, he would not advance past the heats though would be the first Honduran Olympian to run the distance at a Games. He would also run in the men's 200 metres, also not advancing past the heats. In both of the races, he would set personal bests.
