Atalanti Lagoon
Atalanti ( el, Αταλάντη ''Atalantē'') is the second largest town in Phthiotis, Greece. It is located southeast of Lamia, north of Livadeia and northwest of Chalcis. In 2011, it was incorporated into the municipality of Lokroi, of which it is the government seat and a municipal unit. Geography The town can be accessed via the Greek National Road 1 ( Athens – Lamia – Thessaloniki). It is situated in central Greece, surrounded by Mt. Knimida to the north, Mt. Chlomo to the south, Mt. Parnassus to the west, and the northern Eubean Gulf to the east. The area is characterized by high concentrations of magnesium and iron in the soil. The municipal unit has an area of 304.141 km2. Economy Atalanti is known as a market town and was the capital of the former Locris Province. Central Greece (region)
Central Greece ( el, Περιφέρεια Στερεάς Ελλάδας, translit=Periféria Stereás Elládhas, , colloquially known as Ρούμελη (''Roúmeli'')) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. The region occupies the eastern half of the traditional Geographic regions of Greece, region of Central Greece, including the island of Euboea. To the south it borders the regions of Attica (region), Attica and the Peloponnese (region), Peloponnese, to the west the region of West Greece and to the north the regions of Thessaly and Epirus (region), Epirus.
