Yogesh Atal
Yogesh Atal (9 October 1937 – 13 April 2018) was an Indian sociologist. He held a Ph.D. degree in social anthropology and a D.Sc. (honoris causa). Career He joined UNESCO in 1974 and retired in 1997 as Principal Director in Social Sciences. He was honoured by the Maharana Mewar Foundation and the Indian Social Science Association for his contributions to social sciences. The author and editor of a number of books on development related themes, he edited a trilogy of books on Poverty. After retiring from UNESCO, Atal functioned for a year as Director-General of the Indian Institute of Education, Pune and as Chairman of the Programmes Committee of the Indian Association of Social Science Institutions (IASSI). He was a member of the ICSSR Council and of the Governing Board of the Gobind Vallabh Pant Institute of Social Sciences, Allahabad. Hira Lal Atal (26 January 1905 – 23 January 1985) was an Indian soldier in the British Indian Army from 1925 until 1947 and the Indian Army from 1947. He became a Major General and the first indigenous Adjutant General of independent India. He was instrumental in designing the Indian Armed Forces’ highest award for bravery, the Param Vir Chakra. Career Early years Hira Lal Atal attended the Rawlinson Section (renamed the Pratap Section in 1947) of the Rashtriya Indian Military College RIMC in Dehradun, India. Atal Bihari Panda (1928/9 – 5 June 2021) was an Indian actor, playwright and lyricist, known for his works in Sambalpuri odia Cinema. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including two back-to-back Odisha State Film Awards for best actor. His debut in films came at an age of 83 years. Before his debut as an actor in films, he had already written 60 plays. He also wrote lyrics in many Sambalpuri songs. Nava Raipur, officially known as Atal Nagar-Nava Raipur, is a planned city and fully Greenfield city in Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
