Mario Mattoli (; 30 November 1898 – 26 February 1980) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. He directed 86 films between 1934 and 1966. Ernesto Almirante (24 September 1877 – 13 December 1964) was an Italian film and stage actor. Life and career Born in Mistretta into a family of actors, Almirante worked several years on stage along his father Nunzio. He was also active as agent and organizer of several stage companies. After an occasional film role in the 1919 mute film ''Federica d'Illirio'', starting from mid-1930s Almirante became one of the most active character actors of his time. In 1955 he retired from acting and moved into a retirement home for actors in Bologna. He was the uncle of politician Giorgio Almirante. Lauro Gazzolo (born Ilario Gazzolo; 15 October 1900 – 2 October 1970) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Luigi Pavese (25 October 1897 – 13 December 1969) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Asti, Pavese started his career in 1916 working as a silent film actor at 19 years of age. He then began his theatrical debut in 1921 and eventually worked his way up to becoming a film actor by the 1930s. He appeared in more than 170 films between 1916 and 1969. By the time World War II ended, Pavese's popularity as an actor increased. Achille Majeroni (24 August 1881 – 12 October 1964) was an Italian film actor. Born in Syracuse, Sicily, son of Achille Majeroni and his second wife Graziosa Bignetti, he made his stage debut at age twelve with the Marazzi-Diligenti company. He later formed his own company, specializing in Shakespearean works. He appeared in 73 films between 1913 and 1964, notably Fellini's ''I Vitelloni'', in which he played an old comedian.
