"Así Fue" ("That's the Way It Went") is a song written and produced by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel and performed by Spanish singer Isabel Pantoja. It was released in 1988 as the second single from her studio album '' Desde Andalucía''. The song tells of the singer dealing with her ex-lover after she has a new fiancé. It reached number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States and was the fifth best-performing Latin single of 1989 in the country. Nine years later, Juan Gabriel performed a live cover version of the song at the Palacio de Bellas Artes which was recorded and released as a live album titled '' Celebrando 25 Años de Juan Gabriel: En Concierto en el Palacio de Bellas Artes'' (1998). Isabel Pantoja
María Isabel Pantoja Martín (; born August 2, 1956) is a Spanish singer. She was born in the Triana district of Seville, Spain. She has released more than a dozen albums throughout a career spanning many decades, mostly of '' copla'' genre, and is known for her distinctive Andalusian style. Biography She was born in a Romani family of musicians. Both her father and her grandfather were singers. Pantoja began performing precociously at the age of seven in the flamenco ensemble of her cousin Chiquetete. The ''copla,'' ''copla andaluza'' ("Andalusian ''copla''"), ''canción andaluza'', ''canción española'', ''tonadilla'' or ''canción folklórica'' is a form of Spanish popular song, deriving from the poetic form of the same name. Although the genre has a long heritage, it flourished in the 1930s and 1940s, and is epitomized by songwriters Antonio Quintero, Rafael de León and Manuel Quiroga. One of the first singers of ''coplas'' was Raquel Meller. Initially she sang ''cuplé'', which later evolved in Andalusian and Spanish song into the ''copla'' as it is known today.
