Asuran (2019 Film)
''Asuran'' () is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Vetrimaaran and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu. It is based on the novel ''Vekkai'' () by Poomani. The film stars Dhanush, along with Manju Warrier (in her Tamil debut), Ken Karunas, and Teejay Arunasalam. G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the film's music. Cinematography was handled by Velraj, with editing by R. Ramar. ''Asuran'' was released in theatres on 4 October 2019. The film was a commercial success at the box office. The film won two awards at the 67th National Film Awards— Best Feature Film in Tamil and Best Actor (Dhanush). It was one among the ten Indian films to be screened at the 78th Golden Globe Awards (2021) under the Best Foreign Film category. Vetrimaaran is an Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer, who works in the Tamil film industry. As of 2021, he has won five National Film Awards, eight Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, two Filmfare South Awards and the Amnesty International Italia Award from 72nd Venice Film Festival. Vetrimaaran made his directorial debut with the '' Polladhavan'' (2007). His second feature film ''Aadukalam'' (2011) won six National Film Awards. Pasupathy (born 5 September 1967) is an Indian actor. He appeared in critically acclaimed roles in many noted films in Tamil cinema, playing supporting, antagonistic, comedic as well as protagonistic roles. ''Narappa'' is a 2021 Indian Telugu-language period action drama film directed by Srikanth Addala.
