Astra Model 44
The Astra Model 44 is a large, double-action revolver chambered in .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum, or .45 Long Colt with a six-shot, swing-out cylinder, similar in design and features to the Smith & Wesson Model 29 N-frame revolver.{{cite book, title=Spanish Handguns: The History of Spanish Pistols & Revolvers, author=Jr. Gangarosa, Gene, date=2001, publisher= Stoeger Pub Co, isbn=0883172232 It was manufactured in Spain and imported into the United States by Interarms under catalog number 55000. It was sold through distributor Lew Horton in the 1980s. A shorter barrel of 70mm (2.75") Snubnosed revolver variant called the "Terminator" was produced by the John Jovino Gun Shop. Due to the short barrel, this pistol features fairly heavy felt recoil and a large muzzle flash. Sales of the variant stopped in 1989 due to limited demand. A revolver (also called a wheel gun) is a repeating handgun that has at least one barrel and uses a revolving cylinder containing multiple chambers (each holding a single cartridge) for firing. Because most revolver models hold up to six rounds of cartridge before needing to reload, revolvers are also commonly called six shooters. Before firing, cocking the revolver's hammer partially rotates the cylinder, indexing one of the cylinder chambers into alignment with the barrel, allowing the bullet to be fired through the bore. Interarms
Samuel Cummings, (February 7, 1927 – April 29, 1998) was an American small arms dealer. He founded the International Armament Corporation (also known as Interarms or Interarmco) in 1953, a company which came to dominate the free world market in private arms sales. He died on April 29, 1998, in Monaco after a series of strokes. Biography Cummings was born in Philadelphia and became interested in weapons after acquiring a Maxim gun from a disused American Legion hall at the age of five. Cummings became a US Army weapons specialist at Fort Lee, Virginia, after World War II. Following his military discharge he attended George Washington University on the GI Bill, where he was recruited in 1950 by the Central Intelligence Agency as a weapons expert. Llama Super Comanche
The Llama Super Comanche, later known as the Comanche IV, is a large-frame, double-action revolver, chambered in .44 Magnum, and produced by Llama Firearms from 1978 to 1994. The revolver is very similar in size, shape, and features as the Smith & Wesson Model 29, but never enjoyed the same level of popularity as that offering. Muzzle flash is the light — both visible and infrared — created by a muzzle blast, which is caused by the sudden release and expansion of high-temperature, high-pressure gases from the muzzle of a firearm during shooting. Recoil
Recoil (often called knockback, kickback or simply kick) is the rearward thrust generated when a gun is being discharged. In technical terms, the recoil is a result of conservation of momentum, as according to Newton's third law the force required to accelerate something will evoke an equal but opposite reactional force, which means the forward momentum gained by the projectile and exhaust gases (ejectae) will be mathematically balanced out by an equal and opposite momentum exerted back upon the gun. John Jovino Gun Shop
John Jovino Gun Shop, or the John Jovino Company, was a firearms dealer and factory at 183 Grand Street, in the Little Italy neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. It was the oldest gun retailer in the city and said to be the oldest gun shop in the United States. The store closed as a result of financial hardships following the COVID-19 pandemic. The store, which was known for its sign depicting a revolver, was founded in 1911 by John Jovino who sold it to the Imperato family in the 1920s. It remained in the family. Snubnosed Revolver
A snubnosed revolver (colloquially known as a snubbie, belly gun, or bulldog revolver) is a small, medium, or large frame revolver with a short barrel, generally less than 4 inches in length. Smaller such revolvers are often made with "bobbed" or "shrouded" hammers and there are also "hammerless" models (where the firing pin is entirely internal); the point is to allow the gun to be drawn with little risk of it snagging on clothing. Since the external movement of the mechanism is minimal or nil, shrouded and hammerless models may be fired from within clothing. The design of these revolvers compromises range and accuracy at a distance in favour of manoeuvrability and ease of carry and concealment. The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is a six-shot, double-action revolver chambered for the .44 Magnum cartridge and manufactured by the United States company Smith & Wesson. The Model 29 was offered with barrels as standard models. Other barrel lengths were available either by special order from Smith & Wesson's Custom Shop or custom built by gunsmiths. The barreled variant had a full length underlug. Finish options available included a highly polished blued or nickel-plated surface.
