Astra Heights
Astra Heights is an alternative rock band originally from Houston, Texas. They now live and work in Los Angeles. In 2007 they released a full-length album, Good Problems, on iTunes through Universal Records. History Morales brothers Mark, James, Joshua, and Phillip formed Astra Heights in the basement of their parents' house in Houston in 2001. In 2003 Mark, James, and Joshua moved to Los Angeles, while Phillip remained in Texas to pursue a different career path. He was replaced by Bernard Yin, a veteran guitarist who has played with SoCal indie darlings El Vez, Medicine, Pansy Division and The Fuzztones (under a stage name) and others. A record deal shortly followed. Astra Heights recorded their debut album Good Problems for Universal Records with producer David Kahne in 2007. They later self released an acoustic EP The Engineer's Library in 2008. Pansy Division
Pansy Division is an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California, San Francisco, California, United States, in 1991 by singer-songwriter Jon Ginoli and bassist Chris Freeman (musician), Chris Freeman. Conceived as the first openly homosexuality, gay rock band featuring predominantly gay musicians, Pansy Division's music, a mix of pop punk and power pop, focuses mainly on LGBT issues, sex and relationships, often presented in a humorous light. Globus is a Santa Monica-based movie trailer music-inspired band consisting of a mix of producers, musicians, and vocalists. The band is led by composer and producer Yoav Goren. History Foundation Globus was founded as a result of increasing demand for Immediate Music to make their work available for a wider audience. Jack Douglas (record Producer)
Jack Douglas is an American record producer. He is known for his work with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, and the New York Dolls, among other rock artists in the 1970s and 1980s; notably he produced three successful albums for Aerosmith. Early life and education Jack Douglas was born in the Bronx in 1947, New York City. He was trained at the Institute of Audio Research and was a member of its first graduating class. Career Starting out as a folk musician and performer, he worked on Robert F. Kennedy's 1964 senatorial campaign as a songwriter. Douglas then moved to England and joined a succession of bands before returning to New York to attend the Institute of Audio Research. His first professional job was at the then-new Record Plant, not as a producer or engineer, but as a studio janitor. David Kahne
David Kahne is an American record producer, musician, composer, and former record company executive. Professional career Kahne started his musical career as a working musician and soon became Director of A&R for America's first punk and new wave record label, San Francisco's 415 Records; a position he operated out of a closet-sized office upstairs at The Automatt recording studio. He did artist development and in-house production and engineering there for 415 and continued to produce records for artists on the 415 label when he left Automatt to accept a position in Los Angeles as vice president of A&R for Columbia Records. The Fuzztones
The Fuzztones are an American garage rock revival band formed in 1982. History Founded by singer-guitarist Rudi Protrudi in New York City, the band has gone through several member changes but is currently active in Europe. Dismissed by some critics and listeners as a "bar band" or unoriginal, they maintained a strong fan base in New York, in Europe (with their music being played on Hungarian State Radio), and in Los Angeles. Rudi Protrudi moved to Los Angeles in 1987, after the breakup of the original band, to organize a new Fuzztones, consisting of Jordan Tarlow (lead guitar), John "Speediejohn" Carlucci (bass guitar), Jason Savall ( Vox combo organ), and "Mad" Mike Czekaj (drums). Medicine (band)
Medicine are an American noise pop band formed in Los Angeles in 1990 by guitarist/keyboardist Brad Laner. They are perhaps best known for their cameo appearance in the 1994 film ''The Crow'', in which they performed "Time Baby II", although the soundtrack album included a different version titled "Time Baby III" (featuring guest vocals from the Cocteau Twins' Elizabeth Fraser). History Medicine was formed by ex-Savage Republic drummer Brad Laner, based on some 4-track recordings Laner was working on in 1990. After playing the tapes for music industry representatives, he was told that if he formed a band that sounded like the tapes, he could get a record deal.
