Asterix And The Griffin
Asterix and the Griffin (French: ''Astérix et le Griffon'') is the 39th book in the Asterix series, and the fifth to be written by Jean-Yves Ferri and illustrated by Didier Conrad. The book was released worldwide in more than 20 languages on 21 October 2021 with an initial print run of over 5 million copies. It is the first Asterix book to be released since the death of the series' co-creator Albert Uderzo. Plot In Rome, the geographer Cartographus informs Julius Caesar of the reported existence of the griffin, a beast that is half-eagle and half-lion with horse's ears, located in Sarmatian territory in the remote eastern lands of Barbaricum. The Romans have captured a Sarmatian Amazon woman, Kalashnikova, who cautions ''against'' attempting to capture the griffin. ''Asterix'' or ''The Adventures of Asterix'' (french: Astérix or , "Asterix the Gaul") is a ''bande dessinée'' comic book series about a village of indomitable Gaulish warriors who adventure around the world and fight the Roman Republic, with the aid of a magic potion, during the era of Julius Caesar, in an ahistorical telling of the time after the Gallic Wars. The series first appeared in the Franco-Belgian comic magazine ''Pilote'' on 29 October 1959. It was written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo until Goscinny's death in 1977. René Goscinny
René Goscinny (, ; 14 August 1926 – 5 November 1977) was a French comic editor and writer, who created the ''Astérix'' comic book series with illustrator Albert Uderzo. Raised largely in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he attended French schools, he lived for a time in the United States. There he met Belgian cartoonist Morris. After his return to France, they collaborated for more than 20 years on the comic series ''Lucky Luke'' (in what was considered the series' golden age). He wrote ''Iznogoud'' with Jean Tabary. Goscinny also wrote a series of children's books known as ''Le Petit Nicolas'' (''Little Nicolas'') illustrated by Jean-Jacques Sempé. ''Asterix in Belgium'' (french: Astérix chez les Belges, lit=Asterix among the Belgians/Belgae) is the twenty-fourth volume of the Asterix comic book series, by René Goscinny (story) and Albert Uderzo (illustrations). It is noted as the last Asterix story from Goscinny, who died during its production. Plot summary After fighting the Belgians in the northern part of Gaul, Caesar states that they are the bravest enemies he has ever faced ( historically claimed by Caesar).
