Assumption English School
Assumption English School (AES) is a co-educational government-aided Catholic secondary school in Bukit Timah, Singapore. It is one of the seven institutions governed by St Gabriel's Foundation. History AES was founded along Upper Bukit Timah Road in 1953 by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, as one of the three components of Boys' Town, a charity also run by the Montfort Brothers. It was then known as Boys' Town English School. By 1955, the school was established as a single-session full school with classes from Primary One to Secondary Four. In 1955, the first batch of students from the school sat for the School Certificate Examination. In 1973, the secondary school section of CHIJ Bukit Timah merged with Boys' Town English School to form a co-educational Catholic school. Bukit Panjang
Bukit Panjang is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. A portion of this town is situated on a low-lying elongated hill. The planning area is bounded by Bukit Batok to the west, Choa Chu Kang to the northwest, Sungei Kadut to the north, the Central Water Catchment to the east and Bukit Timah to the south. Bukit Panjang New Town is located at the northern portion of the planning area. Bukit Panjang has an average elevation of 36m/118 ft. The Assumption of Mary is one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church. Pope Pius XII defined it in 1950 in his apostolic constitution ''Munificentissimus Deus'' as follows: We proclaim and define it to be a dogma revealed by God that the immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever virgin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven. The declaration was built upon the 1854 dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, which declared that Mary was conceived free from original sin, and both have their foundation in the concept of Mary as the Mother of God. Ong Teng Cheong
Ong Teng Cheong ( zh, c=王鼎昌, p=Wáng Dǐngchāng; 22 January 1936 – 8 February 2002) was a Singaporean politician who served as the fifth president of Singapore between 1993 and 1999. Queenstown is a planning area and satellite residential town situated on the south-westernmost fringe of the Central Region of Singapore.
