Associação Desportiva Iguatu, commonly known as Iguatu, is a Brazilian football club based in Iguatu, Ceará state. History Founded on 11 March 2010, Iguatu intended to register the club in the year's Campeonato Cearense Série C, but only started playing professionally in 2012. They won the third division in their first professional year, achieving promotion to the Campeonato Cearense Série B, where they remained for two years before suffering relegation. Iguatu only returned to the second division of the Cearense in 2015, after finishing third in the Série C. In 2017, the club achieved a first-ever promotion to the Campeonato Cearense, after winning the second division. After a fifth position in the 2018 Cearense, Iguatu suffered relegation in 2019, after finishing ninth. After two seasons in the second division, the club returned to the top tier in 2021, despite losing the finals to Maracanã. Campeonato Cearense
The Campeonato Cearense is the football league of the state of Ceará, Brazil. Format The Campeonato Cearense has three divisions with the following division and format (as in any other Brazilian soccer championship, the format can change every year): First Division The ten clubs play two legs. In each leg there are three stages: *First stage: All teams play each other one time. *Second stage: Two-legged knockout with the top 4 teams of the first stage (1st x 4th and 2nd x 3rd). *Third stage: Two-legged knockout with the second stage winners. The winners of the third stage are leg champions. The two leg champions decide the state championship final in two games. If a team wins the two legs is a state champion with no championship final necessary. The two teams last placed in all championship are relegated. 2022 Campeonato Cearense
The 2022 Campeonato Cearense (officially the Cearense 1XBET 2022 for sponsorship reasons) was the 108th edition of Ceará's top professional football league organized by FCF. The competition began on 8 January and ended on 23 April 2022. After Sportradar found evidence of match fixing, on 16 February 2022, the FCF and the Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva do Futebol do Ceará (TJDF-CE) decided to suspend Crato from the tournament. Therefore, the last match of the first stage Crato v Ferroviário, scheduled for 19 February 2022, was not played and Ferroviário was awarded a 3–0 win. On 22 February 2022, Icasa were denounced by Atlético Cearense before the TJDF-CE for fielding Leandro Mendes in the match Iguatu v Icasa played on 19 February 2022 (14th round). He was booked three times during the tournament (against Crato, Ferroviário and Maracanã) and was ineligible for the match against Iguatu.
