Association Of Iranian Architects
The Association of Iranian Architects was founded in 1945. It was placed in charge of major housing developments in the city of Tehran. The Association put in place the guidelines of the Congrès Internationaux d'Architecture Moderne, and translated them into "building codes, regulations, and protocols that had the fundamental role in shaping the Middle East's first modern metropolis". Its role was important: Tehran had been in a process of modernization since the 1920s, and after World War II domesticity, and the place of women in society, was front and center. The AIA was responsible for building mass housing projects. It started a journal, ''Architect''. Congrès Internationaux D'Architecture Moderne
The ''Congrès internationaux d'architecture moderne'' (CIAM), or International Congresses of Modern Architecture, was an organization founded in 1928 and disbanded in 1959, responsible for a series of events and congresses arranged across Europe by the most prominent architects of the time, with the objective of spreading the principles of the Modern Movement focusing in all the main domains of architecture (such as landscape, urbanism, industrial design, and many others). Formation and membership The ''International Congresses of Modern Architecture'' (CIAM) was founded in June 1928, at the Chateau de la Sarraz in Switzerland, by a group of 28 European architects organized by Le Corbusier, Hélène de Mandrot (owner of the castle), and Sigfried Giedion, (the first secretary-general). World War II

Noureddin Kianouri
Noureddin Kianouri ( fa, نورالدین کیانوری; 1915–1999) was an Iranian construction engineer, Urban planner Professor of Bauakademie der DDR in Berlin and a communist political leader. He studied first at University of Tehran until 1934 and later in Germany from 1934 to 1939. Before his return to Iran he practiced architecture as well though he is mostly remembered as a construction engineer in Munich office of Philipp Holzmann. About a year after foundation of Tudeh Party he joined the party with the membership number 444 on May 1942. Later he became one of the influential members of the Central Committee for the communist Tudeh Party, Following the 1953 Iranian coup d'état the party was banned and Kianouri was imprisoned. He fled, and lived in Italy and later East Germany; under the pseudonym "Dr. Silvio Macetti" he was an influential architect and theorist of socialist architecture and city planning. Vartan Hovanessian
Vartan Hovanessian ( hy, Վարդան Յովհանիսեան; Persian:وارطان هوانسیان , 1896 in Tabriz – 1982 in Tehran) was an Iranian Armenian architect and leading figure in architectural practice and philosophy. He was born in Tabriz. After high school graduation, he developed an interest in design and worked as carpet designer in a German-owned carpet-weaving workshop in Tabriz before moving to Tehran, where he began a career of teaching. By the end of World War One, he took a trip to Paris to study painting in a school for fine arts, but shifted, after a while, to architecture. He studied architecture in École Spéciale d'Architecture of Paris. Holding a degree in architecture, he returned home after 17 years and worked notably in the fields of civil engineering and building architecture. He always preferred the title, "Architect Vartan". Iraj Moshiri
Iraj ( fa, ایرج - ʾīraj; Pahlavi: ērič; from Avestan: 𐬀𐬌𐬭𐬌𐬌𐬀 airiia, literally "Aryan") is the seventh Shah of the Pishdadian dynasty, depicted in the ''Shahnameh''.
