Association Of Scottish Police Superintendents
The Association of Scottish Police Superintendents (ASPS), established in 1924, is a Scottish police staff association. It represents all police superintendents and chief superintendents in the country. The association exists to liaise with police and legal authorities on service-related welfare issues, and to shape both policy and operational practice. Superintendent (Supt) is a rank in the British police and in most English-speaking Commonwealth nations. In many Commonwealth countries, the full version is superintendent of police (SP). The rank is also used in most British Overseas Territories and in many former British colonies. In some countries, such as Italy, the rank of superintendent is a low rank. Scottish Police Federation
The Scottish Police Federation (SPF) is an organisation representing Scottish police officers. It has approximately 18,500 members across the Police Service of Scotland. It campaigns on issues that affect pay and conditions though police officers are not allowed to strike and reports to authorities on matters which affect their welfare and efficiency. The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) was the professional voice of police leadership ( Chief Constables, Deputy Chief Constables and Assistant Chief Constables) in Scotland, including the Assistant Chief Constable in the British Transport Police responsible for Scotland. Some superintendents and senior support staff were also involved in its business. Along with all eight Scottish regional police forces and the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, ACPOS was merged into Police Scotland and ceased to operate on 1 April 2013. Formerly a staff association, in 2006 it was incorporated as a private company limited by guarantee and gained charitable status in 2009. ACPOS evolved to be the strategic body which oversaw and co-ordinated all aspects of the direction and development of policing in Scotland. Police Scotland ( gd, Poileas Alba), officially the Police Service of Scotland (), is the national police force of Scotland. It was formed in 2013, through the merging of eight regional police forces in Scotland, as well as the specialist services of the Scottish Police Services Authority, including the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency. Although not formally absorbing it, the merger also resulted in the winding up of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland. The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) is the national trade union centre in Scotland. With 40 affiliated unions as of 2020, the STUC represents over 540,000 trade unionists. The STUC is a separate organisation from the English and Welsh Trades Union Congress (TUC), having been established in 1897 as a result of a political dispute with the TUC regarding political representation for the Labour movement. The current General Secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress is Rozanne Foyer.
