Sheldon Reynolds (producer)
Sheldon Reynolds (10 December 1923 – 25 January 2003) was an American television producer best known for his involvement in the Sherlock Holmes franchise. He began his career as producer, writer and editor of the syndicated television show ''Foreign Intrigue''. In 1954, he produced the first American television show to feature the Holmes and Watson characters, ''Sherlock Holmes'', which (except in two instances) did not directly adapt Conan-Doyle's original Holmes stories. It starred Ronald Howard as Holmes and Howard Marion-Crawford as Watson. In 1979, he was involved in the creation of another Sherlock Holmes adaptation, the television series ''Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson'', which was considerably less successful. In the 1970s, Reynolds attempted to acquire a license to produce direct adaptations of the stories. Ann Prentiss (November 27, 1939 – January 12, 2010) was an American actress. Early life Prentiss was born Ann Elizabeth Ragusa in San Antonio, Texas, to Paulene (née Gardner) and Thomas J. Ragusa. Her father was of Sicilian descent. Her elder sister, Paula Prentiss, is also an actress. Philip Nott Ober (March 23, 1902 – September 13, 1982) was an American screen and stage actor. He later retired from acting to work as a diplomat. Ober is best remembered for his roles in the films ''From Here to Eternity'' (1953) and ''North by Northwest'' (1959). His other notable credits include '' The Magnificent Yankee'' (1950), ''Broken Lance'' (1954), ''Torpedo Run'' (1958) and ''The Ugly American'' (1963). Frank Kent Smith (March 19, 1907 – April 23, 1985) was an American actor who had a lengthy career in film, theatre and television. Early years Smith was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Smith. He was born in New York City and was educated at Lincoln School, Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, and at Harvard University. Stage Smith's early acting experience started in 1925 when he was one of the founders of the Harvard University Players, which later included Henry Fonda, James Stewart, Joshua Logan and Margaret Sullavan in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
