Assassing
"Assassing" is a song by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion. It was the second single from their second studio album, '' Fugazi'' (1984). The single reached no. 22 on the UK singles charts in May 1984. The 7" single's title track is a heavily edited version of the first track on ''Fugazi'', with a length of 03:39 as opposed to the album version with 07:01. The B-side is the non-album track "Cinderella Search". The lyrics of the song, which feature a narrator-character describing himself as an assassin, appear to concern character assassination. The lyrics are full of metaphors alluding to verbal fighting, for example, "unsheath the blade within the voice." The lyrics are generally interpreted as a reference to the verbal arguments that preceded band founder and drummer Mick Pointer's departure from the band. ''Fugazi'' (titled after a Military slang term well-known at the time of release), is the second studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion, released in 1984. Produced by Nick Tauber, it was recorded between November 1983 and February 1984 at various studios and was the first to feature drummer Ian Mosley, following the dismissal of the band's original drummer Mick Pointer. According to AllMusic, the album "streamlined the intricacies of the group's prog rock leanings in favour of a more straight-ahead hard rock identity". "Punch and Judy" is a song by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion. It was the first single from their second studio album '' Fugazi''. The lyrics of the song are about a marriage gone bad. The single reached no. 29 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1984. This was the only single during the band's EMI years that no music video was shot for. A CD replica of the single was also part of a collectors box-set released in July 2000, which contained Marillion's first twelve singles and was re-issued as a 3-CD set in 2009 (see ''The Singles '82-'88''). "Kayleigh" is a song by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion. It was released as the first single from the concept album '' Misplaced Childhood''. It was the band's most successful single in the UK, where it peaked at number-two and stayed on the chart for a total of 14 weeks. It also became the band's most successful single worldwide, reaching the top 10 in the Republic of Ireland, Norway and France and became the band's sole appearance on the United States ''Billboard'' Hot 100, hitting number 74 in October 1985.' Derek William Dick (born 25 April 1958), better known by his stage name Fish, is a Scottish singer-songwriter and occasional actor. Mark Kelly (keyboardist)
Mark Colbert Kelly (born 9 April 1961) is an Irish keyboardist and member of the neo-progressive rock band Marillion. He was raised in Ireland until he moved to England with his parents in 1969. Kelly was an electronics student while performing part-time in the progressive/psychedelic band Chemical Alice, who released their EP ''Curiouser and Curiouser'' in 1981. He was invited to join Marillion when they supported Chemical Alice, replacing previous keyboardist Brian Jelliman. His first performance with the band was at the Great Northern at Cambridge on 1 December 1981. He has appeared on every Marillion studio album. Kelly also appeared on John Wesley's album ''Under the Red and White Sky'' in 1994 and on Jump's album ''Myth of Independence'' in 1995 on production and keyboards.
