Aspera is a data transport and streaming technology company that provides high speed data transfer services. Aspera belongs to the hybrid cloud business unit of IBM. History Aspera was founded in 2004 by Michelle Munson and Serban Simu. Aspera developed FASP, a high-speed data transfer protocol, and software products based on FASP. IBM acquired Aspera in January 2014. Aspera won a 2013 Primetime Engineering Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development and a 2014 Technology & Engineering Emmy Award for Secure Accelerated File Movement over IP including the Internet. Aspera (band)
Aspera (initially Aspera Ad Astra) were an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History Aspera formed in 1996 under the name Aspera ad Astra in Philadelphia, and released a 7" split with Haelah before issuing their debut full-length in 1998. Following this the group underwent lineup changes before the release of their 1999 EP; several drummers would join and leave the group until late 2000, when A.J. Edmiston joined. Around this time the group shortened its name. They began releasing material on Jagjaguwar Records in 2002, including a re-release of their 2001 album ''Sugar & Feathered''. 2007 saw ''Back When Love'' issued on Philadelphia label Burnt Toast Vinyl. Aspera were part of the so-called "Psychedelphia" scene, alongside bands such as Bardo Pond and The Lilys. Aspera seems no longer to be a going concern. The linea aspera ( la, rough line) is a ridge of roughened surface on the posterior surface of the shaft of the femur. It is the site of attachments of muscles and the intermuscular septum. Its margins diverge above and below. The linea aspera is a prominent longitudinal ridge or crest, on the middle third of the bone, presenting a medial and a lateral lip, and a narrow rough, intermediate line. It is an important insertion point for the adductors and the lateral and medial intermuscular septa that divides the thigh into three compartments. The tension generated by muscle attached to the bones is responsible for the formation of the ridges. ''Venus Express'' (VEX) was the first Venus exploration mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). Launched in November 2005, it arrived at Venus in April 2006 and began continuously sending back science data from its polar orbit around Venus. It was launched on 12 July 1988, and entered orbit on 29 January 1989.
