Asnnel Robo (born November 4, 1993) is a professional gridiron football fullback for the Stuttgart Surge of the European League of Football. Early life Robo was born in Cayenne, French Guiana and later moved to France. After playing soccer in his youth, he began playing gridiron football when he was 18 years old while he was studying in Marseille. University career After moving to Canada, Robo played U Sports football as a running back for the Montreal Carabins from 2015 to 2018. Over his four year career, he had 677 rushing yards and six touchdowns, including 145 rushing yards in a single game against Concordia in his senior year. Professional career Montreal Alouettes Robo qualified for the Canadian Football League's first ever Global Draft in 2019 as the league wanted to expand its international reach. U Sports football is the highest level of amateur play of Canadian football and operates under the auspices of U Sports (formerly Canadian Interuniversity Sport). 2020 CFL Season
The 2020 CFL season would have been the 67th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it would have been the 63rd season of the Canadian Football League. It was originally scheduled to begin on June 11; on April 7, the start of the season was delayed to begin no sooner than July due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The CFL planned to obtain financial assistance from the federal government. In May, the CFL delayed the season to no sooner than September, and announced that the Grey Cup was to be played as a home advantage game rather than as a neutral site game in Regina, Saskatchewan, as originally planned. The Labour Day Classic (french: Classique de la fête du travail, branded as OK Tire Labour Day Weekend for sponsorship reasons) is a week of the Canadian Football League (CFL) schedule played over the Labour Day weekend (which includes the first Monday in September). The 2019 CFL European Draft took place on April 11, 2019. Nine players were chosen from a pool of 18 European players who attended the 2019 CFL Combine. Background In October 2018, Canadian Football League (CFL) commissioner Randy Ambrosie outlined a plan to grow the CFL's presence, which he dubbed CFL 2.0, including growth internationally.
