2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election
The election to the 17th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was held from 11 February to 8 March 2017 in 7 phases. This election saw a voter turnout of 61.11% compared to 59.40% in the previous election. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the election by an overwhelming three-quarters majority of 325 seats despite not projecting a chief ministerial candidate before the election. As part of its election strategy, BJP contested under a collective leadership and capitalised mostly on the political clout and 'brand' of its leader Narendra Modi. Sambhal is a city located in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh state in India. The city lies approximately 158 kilometres (98 mi) east of New Delhi and 355 kilometres (220 mi) north-west of state capital Lucknow. History Sambhal has been an urban center for hundreds of years. It was a prominent town during the medieval period. The painting shown here is a folio from the Baburnama, and depicts an award ceremony in Sultan Ibrahim Lodi's court before an expedition to Sambhal in the early 16th century. Sambhal is said to have flourished under the rule of Akbar but subsequently deteriorated in popularity when Akbar's grandson Shah Jahan was made in charge of the city, and the capital of the province was shifted to Moradabad. Pinki Singh Yadav is an Indian politician and a member of the 18th Legislative Assemby of Uttar Pradesh, India, notably serving three terms since 2012. She represents the Asmoli constituency of Uttar Pradesh and is a member of the Samajwadi Party political party. Personal life Yadav was born in New Delhi to former minister Brajendra Pal Singh. She completed her Bachelor of Education degree from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University and from Teerthanker Mahaveer University attained Bachelor of Laws degree in 2008. She married Pramod Yadav in May 2010, with whom she has a son.
