Asif Khan (Emirati Cricketer)
Asif Khan (born 15 February 1990) is a Pakistani cricketer who currently represents the United Arab Emirates in international cricket. Between 2007 and 2014, Asif played domestic cricket in Pakistan, including 32 first-class matches for Lahore. In 2017, Asif moved to the UAE with the aim to be selected for the national cricket team once he became eligible based on his residency in the country. In March 2022, he was named in the UAE's One Day International (ODI) squad for the 2022 United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series tournament, his maiden call-up to the national side. He made his ODI debut on 5 March 2022, for the UAE against Oman. On 16 March 2023, in a match against Nepal, Khan scored his first century in ODIs. The International Cricket Council (ICC) was founded at Lord's on 15 June 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference, with Australia, England, and South Africa as its founding members. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off was the inaugural edition of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off, a cricket tournament which formed part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process. It took place in March and April 2023, with all matches having One Day International (ODI) status, regardless of whether or not a team had ODI status prior to the start of the event. As a result, Jersey played their first ever matches with ODI status. Six teams qualified for the tournament: the bottom four teams from the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 along with the top teams in Groups A and B of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League. The United States national cricket team is the team that represents the United States in international cricket. The team was formerly organised by the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA), which became an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1965. In June 2017, the USACA was expelled by the ICC due to governance and financing issues, with the U.S. team being temporarily overseen by ICC Americas until a new sanctioning body was established. One Day International (ODI) cricket is played between international cricket teams who are Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) as well as the top four Associate members. Unlike Test matches, ODIs consist of one inning per team, having a limit in the number of overs, currently 50 overs per innings – although in the past this has been 55 or 60 overs.
