Asian Welsh People
Asian Welsh people are people who live in Wales with Asian heritage, Welsh people of Asian heritage or people with mixed Asian and Welsh heritage. As with other parts of the United Kingdom, "Asian" typically refers to people of South Asian origin, in the census category this means those of Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi heritage. There are also options for people of Chinese or other Asian ancestry - in which other South Asian backgrounds like Sri Lankan are included, as well as other Asian backgrounds, like Filipino, for example. Demography In 2016, the Welsh Assembly of the time (now Welsh Parliament/Senedd Cymru) was criticised for not having a "Welsh Asian" tick box for polling purposes on an equalities form issued in Wales, by the Welsh Assembly. David Nott
David Malcolm Nott (born 1956) is a Welsh consultant surgeon who works mainly in London hospitals as a general and vascular surgeon, but also volunteers to work in disaster and war zones. Having recognised that training others could greatly increase his capacity to help, Nott established the David Nott Foundation, along with his wife Elly, to organise training in emergency surgery for others working in war and disaster zones. He has been honoured for this dangerous work and is now often styled the "Indiana Jones of surgery". Education and family Nott was born in Carmarthen in 1956 and lived with his grandparents at Trelech, near Carmarthen, until the age of four. Barry Jones (boxer)
Barry Jones (born 3 May 1974) is a Welsh former boxing world champion. He won the WBO super featherweight championship in 1997, but was stripped of the title when his license was revoked by the British Boxing Board of Control after an anomaly was discovered during a brain scan. Boxing career Jones began boxing at the age of ten, during which he trained at Ray Thorogood's Highfields gym. He was a junior fighter of note, claiming a silver medal at European level as well as competing in the World Amateur Boxing Championships. He turned professional in 1992 at the age of eighteen, and was trained by former British welterweight champion Pat Thomas. Jones' first four professional fights were all held in his home city of Cardiff and all set for six rounds. Kaid Yusef Mohamed ( ar, قائد يوسف محمد; born 23 July 1984) is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a winger for club Carmarthen Town. He spent the early part of his career in Welsh football with Ely Rangers, Cwmbrân Town, Llanelli, and Carmarthen Town. He came to prominence in the 2006–07 season, scoring two goals for Carmarthen in their Welsh Cup final victory. He left Carmarthen to go and play in the English Football League after he was handed a professional contract by Swindon Town in June 2007. Kieffer Roberto Francisco Moore (born 8 August 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for club AFC Bournemouth and the Wales national team. Moore started his career with Conference South club Truro City, having as a teen been a part of Torquay United's youth system and playing for South Devon League Division Two club Paignton Saints. Anoma Sooriyaarachchi, also spelt as either as Anoma Sooriyarachchi or Anoma Suriyaarachchi, ( si, අනෝමා සූරීයාරාච්චි) (born 21 March 1981) is a Sri Lankan-based track and field athlete who competes in women's 100m, 200m, 4 × 100 m relay and long jump events. Neil John Taylor (born 7 February 1989) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a left-back. A former Manchester City trainee, he began his career with Wrexham in 2007 and moved to Swansea City for an initial £150,000 in 2010, going on to make 179 appearances for the Swans. He joined Aston Villa in January 2017 as part of a swap for Jordan Ayew, and made 103 total appearances.
