49er (dinghy)
The 49er and 49er FX is a two-handed skiff-type high-performance sailing dinghy. The two crew work on different roles with the helm making many tactical decisions, as well as steering, and the crew doing most of the sail control. Both of the crew are equipped with their own trapeze and sailing is done while cantilevered over the water to the fullest extent to balance against the sails. The 49er was designed by Julian Bethwaite (the son of Frank Bethwaite) and developed by a consortium consisting of Bethwaites, Performance Sailcraft Japan, Peter Johnston, and Ovington boats. The boat has been an Olympic class since it was selected by the International Sailing Federation to be the men's high performance double handed dinghy Sydney Summer Games of 2000. Nacra 17
The Nacra 17 is a performance catamaran used for sailing. It was designed in 2011, went into production in 2012 and has been the focus of multihull sailing at the Olympic Games since its conception. The Nacra has been converted to a sailing hydrofoil for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. History The Nacra 17 was specifically created to meet the criteria laid down for the new olympic discipline a first for Olympic sailing a mixed crewed boat. Ruggero Tita
Ruggero Tita (born 20 March 1992) is an Italian sailor. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, with Caterina Banti, in Nacra 17, winning a gold medal. From the age of 12 on the national team, he conquered the title of Italian champion in the Optimist class at 13 years old, later he became European Team race champion and Swiss Open champion. He competed in the 29er class and after a short period he moved on to the 49er class where he became an Italian champion. In 2015, he won the Olympic Week on Lake Garda and subsequently the U23 Youth European Champion and the silver medal at the U23 Youth World Championship. Subsequently, with Pietro Zucchetti, represented Italy at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 49er event. Caterina Banti (born 13 June 1987) is an Italian sailor who specializes in the Nacra 17 category. She and Ruggero Tita won two medals at the Nacra 17 World Championship, gold in 2018 and bronze in 2017, and three gold medals at the Nacra 17 European Championship, between 2017 and 2020. They were nominated by the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Hayley Victoria Chan (, Chan Hei-man, born 10 January 1991 in Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong windsurfer, who specialised in Neil Pryde RS:X class.
