Asia Motors, Ltd
Asia Motors Industries, traded as Asia Motors ( ko, 아시아자동차, ), was a South Korean car manufacturer established in 1965 and closed in 1999. From 1976 onwards, it was a subsidiary of Kia Motors. History In 1962, as one of the measures to comply its First Five-Year Economic Development Plan, the Korean government passed a law exempting from taxes imported parts to assemble KD cars locally. In 1965, as a result of these incentives, Asia Motor Industries was established in Gwangju through the financial support of entrepreneur Lee Mun-hwan. The company was initially manufacturing military vehicles, trucks and buses but soon it began negotiations with Fiat and in 1970 it started to assemble Fiat 124 models. Asia Retona
The Kia Retona is a small mini SUV based on Kia's military jeeps. The name is a portmanteau of ''return to nature''. Developed by Asia Motors, the car was initially sold as the "Asia Retona" in some markets. The Retona had been using the same platform as the first generation Kia Sportage Convertible. Hino Ranger
The Hino Ranger ( ja, 日野レンジャー) is a medium or heavy duty commercial truck manufactured by Japanese automobile manufacturer Hino Motors since 1964. Outside of Japan, it is also known as the '500 Series' and as part of the 'F-Series,' 'G-Series' and 'S-Series'. Kia Granbird
The Kia Granbird is a high-decker coach produced by the South Korean manufacturer Kia. It was derived from the Hino S'elega platform and for a brief period of time from former Asia Motors. Production started i1994 and the exterior look stayed the same until the second generation in 2007, and then finally a refresh in 2020. The Granbird is manufactured at Kia's Gwangju plant, which also makes the Soul, Sportage, Rondo, and Kia's commercial and military trucks. The Granbird is only sold in selected markets. Kia Combi
The Kia Combi (originally marketed as the Asia Combi) was a series of mini-buses built from 1983 until October 2002 by Asia Motors, and later Kia. Asia Motors has been owned by Kia since 1976. In October 1983, the 24-seater Asia Motors AM805/807 "Combi" minibuses were launched, entering full production in 1984. Most versions received the Mazda ZB six-cylinder engine of 4,052 cc. This produced at 3,600 rpm. They succeeded the first generation Mazda Parkway, while being based on the second generation Parkway (itself based on the second generation Mazda Titan). In 1988 or 1990 the twin headlights were changed, introducing single, "cats-eye" headlights (AM815). In 1994 the AM815 Hi-Combi was added to the lineup.
